I fucking called it two months ago.

This is why you should never preorder.

I'll wait until Denuvo is removed, Enigma/Obsidium is "patched out", and the game is on a deep sale.
I missed that one, so I'm kinda caught by surprise with this.

I'll note the first game originally had this crap, too. The PC release never got it, thankfully.

Fortunately, save editors exist now, so once you're sick of grinding high-level BBI for RC, you can just edit your save to have like 99 million.

I wonder if Denuvo/whatever other crap Capcom put into it would do anything to prevent save editing here?

Drama Queen's take on the matter:

Also, found this one hilarious (the accent makes it a gem really):

This one nailed it as well:

And people, these are the rare examples of popular youtubers that dare to speak out the truth. And let's turn a blind eye to the fact that Steve doesn't mention microtransactions, as it's a benchmark video.

As one of the guys said, "this game sets the new low", and it really does IMO. Sad moment for the industry indeed. One of the things that comes to mind is that it's almost like they trying their best to kill the open world RPG franchises on purpose. Either because they earn less with games that have a great replayability, or it's could be that these kind of games are not suited and aligned with the goals (other than profit) presented to the industry by its shareholders and its owners. It might be the fact that there's too much freedom exercised in such games (Morrowind comes to mind), and we shouldn't get used to that. Many questions arise, philosophically or not, yet to be answered.

Well, it seems i'm in the minority opinion here, which is a shame. The game itself is absolutely fantastic. They took the ideas of Dragon's Dogma 1 and finally brought them to completion, and it shows. The game is incredibly fun to play. The atmosphere and presentation is top notch as well. I'm not far enough in the story to make a judgement call on it yet but I hope it's good. Overall i'd say wait for a sale or the "complete edition" as someone mentioned because it really is a great RPG.

With that aside, Capcom should absolutely be put through the ringer for the performance issues. Sub-60fps dips on a 7800X3D and a 7900 XTX is completely unacceptable. And while I know that the MTX is the same Capcom have been doing in single player games for years, it doesn't excuse it. It's a lazy attempt at cash-grabbing and they should be blasted for it.

And it goes without saying: get rid of Denuvo please. In fact I really hope they eventually do a GOG release similar to what they did for DD1.

This one always baffles me, as to why they put it in there in the first place. It just shows that the higher ups have no understanding of why people pirate, and that using denuvo and other DRM aint gonna make those people buy the games - then they just don't play that game. And likewise people who was going to buy the game aint gonna NOT buy it because it doesn't have DRM... witcher, cyberpunk etc are great examples of this... no drm, still sold many millions of copies.

In other words, using DRM is wasted money for the devs, and gives poorer performance for users (aswell as other issues) - drm does not lead to increased sales. Even Sony has recognized this, with no DRM for their playstation titles released on pc.

DRMs are also used to mine user data. I'm eager to see the performance comparisons - DRMs vs. no DRMs. I bet that's at least 20% performance gain without those two. We'll see. It will take time.
It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. I guess the beatings will continue until morale improves people stop preordering games.
It's not just about it. It's more about putting up with BS like not having a new game button. Not having FOV slider and other QoL features is nothing compared to it. And people are fine with it. Let's face it - the majority of people are complete idiots.

Let's hope they'll fix the game eventually. But the way they treat their customer base doesn't give any (hope).

Not to go off topic, to much, but at the state that a lot of these games have been released. Star Citizen could release tomorrow in its current state and it would just be the "Norm"

Im really sad to see Capcom going EA and Ubisoft way, i had the game in my Wishlist just waiting to see reviews about performance more....looks like that "more" i was waiting
became a big trash bag of disappointment. I wont buy the game till i see they step back and fix this bs. Dragons Dogma 2 was my 1st choice this season, looks like Ghost of Tsushima earned his place in
my library first.

Not to go off topic, to much, but at the state that a lot of these games have been released. Star Citizen could release tomorrow in its current state and it would just be the "Norm"
i will vote with my money, wont tell anybody what to do. But we will have plenty of people that really dont care about games and respect for the gaming community.
They pay and they support the "Norm"

I know this is not how the comments on this thread are trending but I honestly think you guys are missing out on an awesome experience. The game has stutters in major towns. Gamers Nexus did a frame time/stutter analysis if anyone is interested. But the game itself is awesome.

As an example, my pawns and I stumbled into an extensive cave complex. Light those lanterns and on we go into the tunnels. I'm starting to get lost. A cavern opens up on the left and we hear breathing. One of the pawns goes to investigate. A sleeping Chimera behind which is juicy chest of goodies. I try slip past but one of my pawns (the idiot one) decides to jump on the Chimera and it stumbles to life. Thereupon ensues an awesome battle for the ages. The chest is suitably stocked but I notice a ledge above the cavern. We climb up and it looks like someone has set up a little camp with bookshelves and copious volumes of books littered around the area. There is a curious statue to the side of a lady hands outstretched holding a book herself. I go to touch it and all hell breaks loose. A Wight emerges and proceeds to make a mess of my pawns, spells flying left and right. In between casting my own spells, I sprint to revive the fallen. Another epic battle but the pawns are near dead. It's time to find a way out to safety. We move off but are ambushed by a literal army of skeletons, magic users amongst them. It's too much for my fellow travellers and they are lost. I scramble to a ledge to get away and breach some distance from the enemy. I unleash such spells as I have left and the last of the enemy falls when my stamina is spent. No companions, I travel on to try to find an exit and I do. Walking through the cave opening to the vista beyond stole my breath.

I think that we didn't raise the question of quality of the game world, the quests, great lightning, probably nice combat mechanics (dude I'm roleplaying mage whenever i have the opportunity, and when I saw how great the spellcaster class is in action I was thrilled). But I think you missed out the main points of this thread. Which in short are: Terrible performance even on a highest end hardware, the lack of a crucial QoL features, like the start new game button. In an open world RPG game. It's just unacceptable, and outrageous. Most of these people that commented do care about the game, and will wait for possibility it being fixed (and DRM free), so we can enjoy it properly.

Gamers nexus had issues with it with stuttering crashes etc. Even a 5 hardware change limit per day which made it hard for them to do benchmarks with it. Had a fps swing from 80fps to 170 depending on area.

Gamers nexus had issues with it with stuttering crashes etc. Even a 5 hardware change limit per day which made it hard for them to do benchmarks with it. Had a fps swing from 80fps to 170 depending on area.
yeah a RTX 4090 = RTX 4070 Ti

As always, ever since internet distribution? Don't buy on launch. Wait.

Get the feature & DLC complete version instead for less and save yourself the headaches. All it requires is to curb your enthusiasm.

I fucking called it two months ago.

This is why you should never preorder.

I'll wait until Denuvo is removed, Enigma/Obsidium is "patched out", and the game is on a deep sale.

Such a shame... This series deserved better.
This, I don't know why reviewers and everyone is acting all annoyed over the whole microtransaction fiasco.
Capcom has been doing this with almost every game they have released since the PS3/Xbox360 era.
A recap of Capcom practices in the past:
-Locked content and stored in the game and then sold as DLC(Resident evil 5, Street fighter x tekken)
-Costume/in-game consumables sold as micro-transaction, this is a very common practice from a lot of japanese publishers
-Re-selling a updated version of the same game with slightly more content, now this is a common practice we have seen from japanese publishers. Capcom is one of the biggest offenders, followed by Sega/Atlus(although you might argue their updated version is better value). Look at the number of Street fighter revisions they have released, Monster hunter, Resident evil, Devil may cry etc etc

The moment Dragons dogma 2 gets patched up to run better then I think people will give it a better rating.

I never play new games, my backlog is so vast and I enjoy them, so by the time I get to Dragons Dogma 2 it will be very well polished and probably only $20. This is how I do everything nowadays, it works really well for me personally. Everyone enjoys gaming in different ways :)

Speaking of which, I might finally play the expansion packs of Witcher 3 if they will run well on my Deck OLED. I beat the main game, but not the expansions yet.

Ah, so if you made it policy to infest everything with MTX, its okay? We've really lost touch with how things oughta work in a consumer market I think.

This was never okay, in the end its a balancing act for them. Some things cross the line, some are perhaps gray, others are innocent. I think you're right, if the game is REALLY GOOD and the quality level is high, the performance is aight and the content doesn't feel artificially neutered to sell more to you, MTX are somewhat more acceptable. Content DLC... again: they can range from great to abysmal and a big part of that is the delivery of the vanilla game in comparison.

But honestly, the whole strategy of asking for pennies for every little shitty (actual gameplay) thing in a game, even though you can earn it with money, is just godawful.

To me it doesn't really matter anymore. I think I'll get to play this game at some point, when its moddable and there's some portable version online. Not paying a single cent for these practices ever again. It only escalates further, and the games don't get better for us giving companies more money. Something's gotta give. Perhaps if they made it offline capable and slash the price to 3 bucks I'll dive into a legal copy. The other 95% of purchase price they can kiss goodbye.

I wasn't saying its Ok, i'm just saying why are people are still making it a big deal when Capcom has a track record of doing it.
Vote with your wallet at the end of the day, if you choose to not pay for their silly MTX then you don't but that shouldn't take away from a potential great game when the MTX items are items you can acquire in the game.
If you go and look at all of their recent Resident evil games they have abundance of "costumes" you can purchase and even a MTX to unlock all the rewards, but yet people praised the games still.
Devil May Cry has the same rubbish but people bat an eye and not notice them?
Monster Hunter World and Rise, again all have similar MTX items.
These are all SP/MP games but they all have positive feedbacks still despite having these silly MTX.
People on social media are blowing it way out of proportion, the real takeaway is the game is fun and amazing but suffers from poor optimisation which is a fair critic right now.
But turning people off or not recommending it to people because of the MTX practice(which again they have a track record of doing it) is a poor reason.

Man, this game doesn't have an option to start a new game! But they'll give you the option of editing your character for just a small microtransaction! Or you can maybe earn it in game after how many hours? It's a single player open world RPG FFS, people will want to start over many times because of many reasons, and mostly to try playing many different builds. If you're fine with it, good for you then. It's becoming a norm. People on social media are full of BS by saying it's a great game as well. It runs like crap and it has TWO DRMs. Everyone is fine with that as well? Yeah right...

I find it bizarre over wanting to try different builds, specially on this game when you can switch your build/class whenever you want in the game? You are not restricted to the class you pick from the char customisation, so it's not entirely necessary to start over.
Now if you want to start over because of some wrong dialogue choices then sure that is fair enough.
Capcom did say they are "looking" into the whole single save only issue which hopefully they will address.
Also from what I understood you can change your char appearance in-game once unlock the salon or something in town which uses in-game currency.

I just think people are blowing it out of proportion by Capcom marketing it like it is a AAA game, but really this game was clearly made to please fans of the 1st game and try to introduce new fandom.
The whole 2 DRM and the game running like crap isn't right I agree, let's just hope Capcom can fix it asap.
They manage to fix up Monster hunter world when it got released, so I'm sure they will eventually patch the game.
I have no interest in this game as I have tried to play the 1st game multiple times and did not gel with it, but it's certainly worth picking up when it's all patched up still if people do like the game/franchise.

Its the sliding scale that's the problem. You've even said it yourself, only one game save could definitely get annoying. But let's stop and think for a moment here, this was an intentional design decision. Does it make the game better? What feature is going to get paywalled in DD3?

This is why I like and defend my simple position: cosmetics and fluff, or actual, real content DLCs? Sure, MTX to your heart's content. But core gameplay features or any kind of gameplay advantage also available behind a paywall? You're on my shitlist. Its no go territory. The line has been crossed: a paid product is actually not fully paid.

I do agree with the social media shitstorm being nonsensical, but hey, it needs one every day. DD2 got lucky this time. But that doesn't detract from the core of the issue imho.

I'll drop this now, tbh, enough's been said about it. More game less whine :)

We get it, your against MTX. Everyone is. But it doesnt make sense to make the MTX such a big deal with DD2. It literally is pointless to buy. Why are you making a big deal out of it when every item is obtainable in game very easily? Do you even own the game or are you just bashing it because its the cool thing to do?

The game itself is excellent. They have massively improved the exploration and map from DD1. The combat is also improved in my opinion. I have about 40 hours in it and I think I am getting close to the end, so its on the shorter side, but still very good.
