Hi,
Not sure what to do now.

I've run both my AMD 290's (Powercolor PCS+ 290) in my machine separately. I noticed there was a bios update which I downloaded and installed on one of the cards no problem.
Installed both cards into the PC for crossfire and flashed the 2nd card (top PCIE slot) and then my troubles started.
AMD catalyst control center error, can not start, currently no settings that can be configured. I notice this also means my monitor isn't recognized.
If I unplug the card and just run the second card, everything is fine.
If I copy the bios off the working card, re download the new or old BIOS and re flash I still have the problem.
I've attached the GPUZ read out of both cards.

Any suggestion in what to do?
Both cards have been flashed using ATIWinFlash. Both currently setup in a watercooling loop so really hoping I don't have to remove it.

Thanks

Did you try completely removing and reinstalling catalyst?

yes. used CC cleaner and DDU to make sure everything had gone. reinstalled the latest catalyst, still only the one card gets picked up

Uninstall driver, then install 13.9, after that you can install newer driver on top of that install.

Had this problem one time before with crossfire and that sorted it.

Hi Asylum.
13.9 wouldn't install. Well it said it did but didn't ask for reboot. After reboot no catalyst software. Tired it twice.
Install 13.12 instead and I get same problem as latest catalyst. "No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not..."

Did you save the original bios?

And if so, flash back in DOS not WINDOWS! never use winflash for flashing.

Just tried DOS and it hasn't made any difference.
I don't have the original rom from that card but the rom looked identical to the the other gpu which i did copy.
Tired forum roms and other gpu original but still getting error

Hi

move dual bios switch over to performance bios image #2 [*or back to #1]*depending on which image was written to and corrupted
next
reinstall drivers

Uninstall driver, shut down computer, reboot with only one card in main PCIe slot (if on water loop leave second card hanging out of slot), install 13.9 driver, confirm working, shut down computer, install second card with crossfire adapter, boot up and wait a few minutes, go to catalyst software and enable crossfire (if no install 13.9 again), reboot and wait a few minutes and problem should be solved (may have to enable crossfire now).
I know this sounds strange but the last few times I have done crossfire I have had this problem also.
I don't know if its because I change cards all the time between AMD and Nvidia or some kind of registry conflict but that has worked for me every time.
If that don't sort you out you have flashed one of your cards incorrectly and need to reflash to original bios.

Thanks for the suggeestions
Ok, so I switched to the 2nd bios tried 13.9 but didnt seem to install the driver. then tried 13.4->13.9->13.12.
On 13.12 the CC center has popped up with no errors and the GPUZ image is attached

Should I flash this bios#2 into bios#1 via atiflash (dos)?

Hi

Should I flash this bios#2 into bios#1 via atiflash (dos)?
If the vga card works with the reserved Vbios image from position #2; use a backup copy of #2
Vbios image - to flash position #1

Note: DO NOT flash switch position #2 [reserved Vbios position]

Thanks Law.
Flashed and working again.
Wonder why the updated bios caused a problem. Guess I don't update unless told to in future.

Hi

Flashed and working again.

Great to see the vga card is up and running again :toast:

[indeed leave well alone unless instructed by manufacturer is wise choice]

Well you just learned something. Now be the poster child and tell all your friends not to flash their gpu bios.
