Dual layer DVD movie Quality DVD-9

Hey every one, im just wondering if any one can tell me more about Dual layer DVD quality?
whats the standard Resalution for a DVD-9 movie?

I know Blue Ray is better but It seems to me that most Blueray/HD movies are around 8gb, the same as DL dvd, what am i missing?

Is the quality of a DVD-9 movie better than standard 4gb DVD movie?

yes, but its a matter of bitrate not resolution.

i like 720p h.264 the best

the resolution i think can vary im not really sure, but bitrate is like EXACTLY the same thing as it is with still images, like with jpeg, how you can compress it more, or less and the quality is affected by how much compression you use, same exact thing [also same thing as with mp3s] resolution wise, its standard definition resolution i would bet anything, 720x480, and for widescreen the resolution is actually the same, they just smoosh it and then strech it back out, "animorphic widescreen"... resolution wise you pretty much have standard definition, 720x480, and then 720p, 1080i, 1080p, not really much between

whats 1080i like compared to 1080p?

do you know if you can choose between the two while watching an HD movie? check my specs if it helps

dude honestly, i am not really sure... i think that is more of a SCREEN thing and not so much a media thing.. that is to say i think that the media is 1080p and then if your screen can do it itl do it otherwise itl just half the framerate [?]

if you are playing them on a computer you should consult your media player, i use media player classic and its really great about sizing things flawlessly, what do you use?

i use windows medea player the latest, with the Sharkey codecs installed.
i also use cyberlink power dvd 9 delux ultra lol, they both good players (cyber link has a good pan&scan feature)

overall WMP with sharky codecs is the better one though, becouse cyberlink wont play my MKV files

in media player classic try the keys on the number pad, they do stuff to zoom and etc.

yea, i used to use Media Player Classic,
But now use Windows Media Player with the Sharky Codecs, its better i think, better/nicer interface, Better Qual, and playes every thing Classic dose
