I switch my old dvd rom to a tsstcorp dvd+-rw ts-h653g and the problem is it cant read dvd or cd, it is recognised as cd rom instead and i cant update the firmware. I dled the lastest firmware and installed it. But as i read the properties, the version s still the same.

Hope u guys come up with something.

Appreciate it.

try going into device manager start>right click computer> select manage> device manager. locate your cd rom drive in the drop down menu, right click it. click uninstall, then right click anywhere in the device manager plane and click scan for hardware changes in the context menu. try that first and let us know if it worked.

TSST Corp is aka Samsung. I had to RMA the same Samsung DVD-ROM drive twice due to failures. They are just problematical drives, unfortunately. Buy a Lite-On DVD+/-RW drive and never look back. ;)
