But Origin is so good....

You have a license for the game, and EA has to honor its end of the bargain.

Or allow you to download the game DRM free like Direct2Drive did before they folded got sold off and rebranded several times

Still requires Origin. We'll never know who asked who first or who was more desperate but clearly this works for both of them. I'd rather buy from Origin directly assuming prices were the same, but this gives some more flexibility so that is good.

Not only are EA games coming to steam but so is EA Access...
I believe they are creating an account link sorta like you get with Humble Bundle and steam.
When I hear more I'll add more.

Smart move. More than once EA's convoluted multi step account creation process has turned me away from buying their games. Sure I am not alone on that. And the number of launchers has become ridiculous. We could do with some consolidation.

It's official:
Thanks for reminding me that I have to reinstall Origin on my PC.
Holy hell! Never in my life would I ever think EA of all publisher would come crawling back to Steam. And it's just not old catalogue but current and upcoming too. Wow!
Now with lackluster sales of recent Ubisoft titles (mainly Ghost Recon Breakpoint and The Division 2) let's see how long they stick to their Epic exclusivity (or more like sell anywhere but Steam) deal.

don't forget the fine print, most Origin games on Steam will still require you to boot up the Origin client and login to your Origin account, similar to how Uplay auto launches its launcher when you click on a Ubisoft game. So yes Origin games are coming to Steam, but it still require like 3 steps to actually play your game, including having the Origin client running... really this is no different than just using Steam overlay on a Origin game... lol

the one thing I do like about Epic Games store... is you can close epic games store and run the game. Not sure if it's a bug or a feature

Steam actually costs a couple FPS and adds a bit of memory latency.

To heck with that too. Way back when I bought Half Life 2 and discovered it required some type of online presence (steam) to complete install, after already installing the first several CDs thought to myself .... hope this does not become a trend. And look at where we are today. Just sell me some disks (or flash key) and let me play the game for crying out loud. :banghead:

I won't mind. Many people say that Uplay sucks, but I don't mind if I had to launch that too if I want to play Far Cry 3 for example (I have newer Far Cry titles on Uplay, FC3 is on Steam).

Totally unintended. Iirc you could do that when they were first giving away Subnautica. Then they patched it. But afaik Batman Arkham games they gave away (plus sell) on EGS didn't have the Denuvo DRM like Steam versions have. Ultimately it's the dev's fault.

I love Uplay. It's very smooth. Origin however, is not.

Exactly! I never run one store overlay over another. That’s why I get my (actual) Ubi Games from Uplay directly, and my EA games from Origin ( and will continue to do so). Same with Rockstar, since their Social Club has to be open anyway. It all makes for fewer playability and compatibility problems.

Edited for spelling

yep exactly. Origin is getting way to much credit, the news outlets aren't explaining it properly. lol

For me Steam is the only convenient option.

uPlay and Origin don't have regional pricing for me so they're no go.
Epic games store has regional pricing but I don't have credit card nor PayPal is supported in my country.
Unlike steam where I can buy steam wallet cards from nearby stores.

Origin had regional pricing for a nearby country and they also have wallet cards like Steam but EA scrapped the regional pricing after europeans and Americans were using vpn to buy from there and upon close inspection Origin wallet cards turned out to be only usable for accounts based in U.S.

I have never had a single issue with Origin. Works flawlessly every time. I do prefer Steam though. Steam is just more convenient.
