The FlexScan EV2216W is the latest addition to EIZO's EcoView series of monitors which combines ecological features, visual ergonomics and a five-year warranty for a low total cost of ownership. The FlexScan EV2216W is the first EcoView monitor with a 22-inch screen and 1680 x 1050 native resolution (16:10 aspect ratio).

The brightness dimming methods used with conventional LED-backlit monitors cause some users to see flicker which can result in eye fatigue. The FlexScan EV2216W incorporates an EIZO-developed solution that regulates brightness to make flicker unperceivable without compromising color stability. Even at just 1% of the maximum brightness the monitor remains flicker-free.

The monitor's design is compact and space efficient. The right and left bezels are just 12.1 mm wide which saves desktop space and minimizes eye movement between screens in a multi-monitor environment. The power supply unit is built into the monitor.

An EIZO-developed feature called EcoView Optimizer saves up to 30% on energy consumption when viewing a screen with mostly dark content by reducing the brightness and increasing the gain. Image quality is maintained because the reduction in brightness is almost unnoticeable.

An ambient brightness sensor called Auto EcoView automatically adjusts the screen's brightness in accordance with changes in the ambient brightness. It trims power usage while reducing eye fatigue that would otherwise result from a screen that is too bright or too dark.

A presence sensor called EcoView Sense detects when the user leaves the desk and automatically switches to power save mode. When the user returns the monitor resumes normal operation. EcoView detects not only the user's movements but also body heat for increased accuracy.

The FlexScan EV2216W comes with a TN (twisted nematic) LCD panel and 170° horizontal and 160° vertical viewing angles. An "UpView" function minimizes washing out of colors that may occur when looking up to see the screen as may be the case in a control room.

Five preset modes are included - sRGB, Movie, Paper, and two modes with user-adjustable settings. Paper mode simulates the look of printed paper to help prevent eye fatigue when reading documents.

The FlexScan EV2216W starts shipping from September at a street price level of 249 Euro.

Additional Features:
  • 250 cd/m2 maximum brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio.
  • DisplayPort, DVI-D, and D-Sub inputs for digital and analog connectivity.
  • Dual 1-watt speakers and a headphone jack.
  • Zero watts of power consumed when the main power switch is off.
  • Available in a choice of black or gray.
