Are you going to let some screws stop you?????

It just dawned on me. This would really come in handy for an HTPC. You could use these for applications and stuff
and use external drives for the main storage (movies/music/whatever).

You could probably find male to female sata cables on ebay or somewhere, removing the need to buy brackets and fiddle around, also allowing you to use all your sata sockets, infact IMO they should include such a cable (say a 50cm one) for those who want to use these without losing so many sockets in the process.
I do like the idea though, its quite creative, I wonder if it will catch on though.

perfect solution! 50cm is probably too long though.

higher wright speeds would be nice, my usb thumb drive dose 20mb a second, fix that and when they are out in somthing like 32/64gb then it would be an excelent OS drive, even if it took up say 2 sata ports in space

(i wonder if you can boot from them ?)

these are native sata, so they'd be bootable.

Dont forget that these still have SSD access times, so they'd be epic for e HTPC OS drive, or a silent PC's drive.

Yeah, a longer and thinner version would be better, but it would put more stress on the connectors.... probably still not a problem.

I like all these SSD solutions which don't require a cable.... great for SFF builds and easy to setup. I wouldn't mind a PCI-slot like array on the motherboard to connect up the hard drives.

That's so cute ^_^ I'd have room for one, similar config of sata ports like on the picture and 3 in use.

Really nice innovation, will keep an eye on these and the prices. Something that I want, but don't really need. These things will sell like i5 on launch date.

Tip to motherboard manufacturers. Want something special bundled with your top of the line board? Supply one of these with drivers/stuff on it :) Well might be expensive, but you could bundle these with everything! :p
