Alright so I have a elements 640gb portable hd and is 5400 rpm. When I play 4gb .mkv files the audio starts to not match the person talking. The picture is also kind of shuttery. I definitely know that it can't be the file itself because most of my 4gb mkv files are kind of shuttery and the audio is kind of not together. If I play a 1gb or 2 gb avi or mkv file the picture and audio is perfect. I just want to know is this suppose to happen for a 5400 rpm drive? Will this case be solved if I play it in a 7200 rpm hd or a ssd? I also hear that this hd has problems with win x64. Does anyone have this problem with this hd?

Hello, noticed no one has answered you.

It would help if you were to post your system specs in the User CP.

Sounds like a software(player) issue or codec issue, maybe.

Would be able to tell more if you give some more information.
Like what software and OS?
Does it just do it on .mkv or with other types of large files?
Are they O.K. if you play them from your main hard drive?

I have two computers one is really old: Pentium D (2.6ghz), 1.25gb ram, integrated audio and video, 5400rpm 180gb HD ( I think), win xp
2nd comp.:i5 750, 4gb ram, ati 5670, kingston ssd 64gb, 1tb spinpoint f3, ht omega claro plus (will be getting)
Basically I haven't tried this on my 2nd comp. yet because I have to always set it up. So I am just wondering if the lagginess is happening because it has 1.25gb ram or it's just the Hard drive. I tried this on my friends comp. with his seagate 5400 rpm external hard drive and it worked fine. The audio was in par with the video. However when I click to go to a different section the whole video lags but gets back to normal. I was using cyberlink ultra 3d 10 playing the video. Usually it the lags only happen on the .mkv files. Should I install cyberlink ultra 3d or CCCP a codec pack that also has plays alot of format?
Thx for replying 95Viper..
