Thought I would play through SC again and want to enable widescreen, I have tried editing the .ini though this didn't work, does anyone know how I can do this?

The original Splinter Cell?

yea, it's an unreal based game apparently, tried editing the splintercelluser.ini and changed the res to 2048x1152 though it made no difference, also got another niggle in that I can only choose medium shadow resolution, tried this in both Win7 and XP x86 to see if it was a compatibility thing but it is the same in both

I believe you have to change the FOV option also to get it to work.

For a 16:9 resolution the FOV should be 75, IIRC, for 16:10 it should be 85.

Seems it is something to do with permissions in Win7 as I have managed to change the res in XP though after the change I had to edcit the .ini as read only or it would edit the res again, though in Win7 even after setting permissions to allow me to read and modify and then change the res it still doesn't show up as an option in game :(

Have you tried editing as an administrator and then setting the .ini to "read-only"?

Not as an admin though changed my user permissions to full control and edited, saved then changed to read only and still no go

I say not as admin, though my user account is admin, but am sure in Win7 even doing that doesnt give you "full" admin rights if that makes sense.

Yeah, I've always had admin rights issues with W7 but thats probably due to my own inexperience with W7.

Have you disabled UAC?

Just tried that and still no change, the .ini's are all locked as read only now and still stuck on 1280x1024 and medium shadow resolutions, fucking ballache, not a biggy as I think I have it sorted in XP and have dual boot though would be nice to get it sorted in Win7 as I don't really want to use XP :banghead:
