So far it seems every time I get a newer faster video card no matter if it is pci, agp, pci express that when I do the mad onion hi res test i always get like 6FPS

Currently I have a new Nvidia 7900GS and desktop is at 800X640 with no wallpaper

I edited system registry and such and the only bottle neck I can think of
is the LCD is at 60MHZ which you cant change for LCD.

Do you think if I used my gaming tube monitor (I can crank it to over 200MHZ refresh)

My test scores would be normal?

I've never heard of the mad onion test.

It doesn't work that way. The refresh rate is the number of times the monitor redraws the display per second (60Hz equals 60 times per second). It won't affect your video card in any way that would raise benchmark scores unless you have v-sync enabled which could cap the FPS, but not at 6 FPS.

WTH?!?!?!?!?! you have never used the mad oinion software package?!?!

I've used almost all of the Futuremark products. I'm sorry but I don't recall any software called mad onion and I don't see it in their product list. Maybe you could point it out to me? :o

mad onion is what futuremark used to be called when they made 3dmark 2001

ok what are you trying to bench with ? 3dmark01,03,05,06 ? your refresh rate has nothing to do with yopur fps unless vsync is forced on also what did you do to your registry ? you shouldnt really have to mess with your registry to troubleshoot/fix graphics problems. show us a screenshot or compare link if possible

The test runs fine in 800x600 mode but once it switches to anything higher then major video lag appears(1024x768) drops down to 1 or 2fps

that wouldn't happen to be the cpu test would it? i don't think an amd at 2.2 ghz gets a really good fps on 3dmark06. i think my cpu is right at the same fps during the cpu test, and with some shot up to 3 fps
