I'm with EVGA on this one. If the system was abused you only have to thank those that abused it. If you're not in a rush go through regular RMA channel, if you need something to have your system operational get some cheapo GPU or keep a backup handy in case of emergency. One of the benefits of running Intel before was that I could always roll back to iGPU in case something went wrong with the dedicated card, I miss that with Ryzen.
The APU, unfortunately both intel and amd have the igp on the cpu now...

Its why if i start a mod project i get a cheap vid board for recovery reasons.

Here is the LIKELY reason evga is doing this, to prevent GAMING of their RMA system by people trying to get gpu cheap so they can turn around resell it. I would bet they have had increasing issue of people claiming to be dead gpu to get RMA then pay for advanced gpu price. Well since their gpu isn't dead they don't need to send it and now they got same card in mail for half what card is retailing for. They can turn around sell it for 50% over MSRP. In the end they make a bit of $ and they just scammed a gpu outta rma chain from someone that legit has a card that failed. Paying sat 780 euro for 3080 then turn around sell it for say 1400-1500 eur is very incentiving of people trying to game their RMA process.

Read the article/thread, you are late to the party. They weren't preventing anything scammers and scalpers were already going to town by the time they changed the policy.

Scalpers and miners could do a lot of harm to the PC gaming hobby.
I noticed that PS5s are being scalped because of low availability as well.
I think it's illegal to scalp tickets outside of events and theaters. It should be illegal to scalp video cards too imo.

Sorry but why do you assume that the customer is somehow *obliged* to have that cash ready for disposal to EVGA?!
Learn to read maybe?

The thread is pretty much self explanatory at this point. Everything has been laid out so there's really no point in rehashing things over and over again. Now it seems things are just getting nasty for no reason

This is exactly why they have done it, I guess some people still don't get it.
You don't have to use advanced. If you don't have the spare cash, you will still get a new card. If you are hoping to flip for a quick buck, tough luck. Lots of QQ about this, but to me it makes perfect sense.

You are correct.

But let's circle back to the core of the issue here. EVGA GPUs are burning to a crisp because of a bloody game. Not because of a thermal pad 'missing' (on every GPU, ergo, complete design fail), this time... but because of a game. So what you considered was a top of the line cooler and ditto GPU still has a major fault.

Just let that one sink in. Much longer.

And now consider the fact some customers 'pick EVGA for its great RMA' services and warranty. But in reality, for all but the most wealthy of users, their better policies are actually out of reach. Meanwhile, other AIB cards run the same game fine.

Hi,
Bad thing about advanced rma is if you're rma is rejected for damages not covered by rma terms even return shipping damages so yeah don't forget package insurance lol
You just paid in advance for a new gpu and in this case at higher costs.

Standard rma is usually the best way to do an rma just next day air to evga and boom they get the gpu as fast as possible and you keep the rest of the money in your bank/... until rma process is done.
