Keyboard Corsair K70
Software windows 10 64 pro bit
Last week my trusted Rasor Actosa suddenly desided to go to keyboard heaven.....I was crushed:cry:.

Well on a danish HW site that Im a member of also. gave me that advice to buy the Corsair K70 since I wanted to have a mecanical keyboard.....I listend(never should have, but I did).

I ordered it and it came.....never have I been so dissapointed in hardware before, it was and still is awfull while they charge a premium money for it....oh boy.

It took me 10 mins then I just knew Ive made a BIG mistake, the K70 preformed like its supposed to, NOT the way I wanted and just to set it up was a pain in the butt.

I wanted a gaming keyboard, that works fast, and I can make the macros I want to, well Corsair K70 isent 1 of them, especially if you use left hand on a computer.
I got so angry, that I had to tell my wife that I f'cked up and had bourght the wrong thing for me. Just like allways, she tells me that I made the choice so I just had to learn to live with it.
Thats NOT me....I was so mad I just ordered a new mecanical keyboard, a Razor Black Widow Ultimate which I received today, and it works......oh boy it works.....just plug and play then software DL all my macroes and I was a happy camper:peace:, best part is now my wife needed a new keyboard also, så she can have my 48 hour old K70 instead :nutkick::lovetpu:.

My K95 still does not allow me to install updated firmware or any of the drivers for macro purposes to this day. I don't use macros, I bought the keyboard cause it was super cheap at the time and had the keycaps I like. It's good as far as mechanical keyboards go, but in terms of software I don't tend to recommend them.

I'm a big fan of Razer keyboards and mice as well, I know Razer gets a lot of hate for being overpriced and having crappy software, but my experience with their products has been smooth as butter in all aspects :)
I'm glad you got a keyboard you like in the end! :D

My razer key caps worn down fast, so pretty cheap keep meaning to post a pic of how bad they are just over a 5-6 month usage before the keys started to fail.

Thankfully my MK Pro and Tesoro keyboard caps have been a much better quality.

I hope it serves you well, make sure you pick up a wire key cap remover not the plastic ones as they keycaps are kinda close and end up pushing the key which the plastic can shatter.

Don't use compressed air to clean and remove the keys and use a cotton bud to remove dust as if you use canned air you can blow dirt in to the switches over time.

Ive used Razor products since the very 1st. mouse.
The only way mine has gone bad is because it has been gamed to shreads.

I know they charge premium for their products, but they hold their own, otherwise thery wouldt be arround.

You are not the first I've heard who was disappointed in their recent Corsair keyboard purchases. There seems to be a serious pattern with that company with virtually all their products, except RAM - which seems to be consistently good. I think the verdict is still out on their SSDs (but I'll stick with Samsung, thank you).

They came out with some PSUs, got outstanding reviews and customer satisfaction for a couple years, then they changed tactics and let their quality slip - living on their laurels and brand name. I bought several Corsair PSUs while they were still good, but they are not on my recommended list today (with a couple notable exceptions on their high-end line - Do your homework before buying!!!).

They came out with some cases, got excellent reviews and customer satisfaction for a couple years, then they changed tactics and let their quality slip. I fell for the hype buying a Corsair Carbide 300r instead of an Antec (my preferred brand). The 300r works fine, and has excellent cooling, but it is not "true" (exactly 90° bends in the sheet metal and corners). Consequently the case sits on 3 of its 4 feet and wobbles, and the side panel is difficult to align properly. :( I know of other Corsair case owners with similar complaints.

Now we are seeing the same thing with their keyboards. Initially, they were getting rave reviews and customer satisfaction, but now we are seeing problems that should not be. I don't understand why that company is not learning from their mistakes. :( It sure makes me use a suspicious eye with all their products now.

My first keyboard I ever got from them shipped with dead LEDs, wouldn't exactly say they ever stepped off with a good foot with their peripherals.

Well that's not good. How long ago what that?

I guess their RGB crusade isn't perfect after all.

I was looking towards a K65 RGB to replace my K280E at home, but now I'm having second thoughts about buying any recent Corsair keyboard. Why they had to kill off the original K65 and replace it with a K65 RGB that is not available in the upper half of North America is beyond me.

Have yet to get my hands on their RGB boards. I will say that I did just look at the Strafe, and that had no quality issues!

I did really dig the G.SKILL RGB though, that KM780 was pretty kickass with clear switch housings and the LEDs built in, best light display I have ever seen!

March of 2012! Opened the box, powered it up, no LED function with the W key.
Well, even the best makers can have lemons, but that would sure bum me out. And did you get a replacement and was it okay?

Dead LEDs plagued many of their original K90 and K60 keyboards, were many threads across many boards when they released. I did not RMA it, but I am sure Corsair would have taken care of me on it.

I don't recall Corsair ever giving anyone a hard time with RMAs, and that's certainly a good thing. But still, even if a company treats you right in that respect, the inconvenience is still a PITA.

At least with lots of competition out there, consumers have other options.

Yeah, show her who's boss! :p

Ended up giving the keyboard to a buddies son. I was told by this kid, I don't care if the W keys doesn't work, my finger is covering it when I use it anyways!

lol! My neighbor said something similar just yesterday when I noticed the "E" label had worn off his E key.

I love my K70 every day. For macros I use freeware HotkeyP, does all and moar ;)

It seems we have 'wrong tool for the job' situation

My assumption OP has old K70 non RGB variant and much prefer 'fast' thinner keys.
- old K70 is not macro capable
- there's no mechanical keyboard with thin keys.

MX Red is not really slow but without touch typing (difficult while gaming) and o-ring, it's kinda slow.

Funnily it's also my feeling when I have K70 for the first time (previously Razer Tarantula) but I learn to live with it.
Currently eyeing Razer Deathstalker but the led version is overpriced.

The early variant of K60/70/90 have serious dead led problems but I think now it's a lot better.

Yeah they surly hold their own, all 5 products not including failed RMA replacements have failed within a year of owning them, so that said yeah i never had a product worse.

Sorry but bad quality caps is just plain cheapness, maybe they improved then now but hell if i am going take that chance again.

EDIT:

Here's the pic how bad Razer caps are which both the original and RMA did this. The ROCCAT key has actually had more usage which is the one on the right.

The Razer one looks like plain cheap plastic.

They could at least have gone ABS. It's not like it's that much more...

I wear my keycaps down like nuts, so I have a PBT deck. Now that's a good keycap.

There aren't even macro keys on the keyboard :) I love my K70, just because it's one of the only mechanical keyboards with my layout.

Corsair Utility Engine won't be usable with first-gen K70. You need to use Autohotkey software or something.
