My accomadation provides me with internet access via an ethernet port, this connects me to several ethernet switches and finally the internet, it has a DHCP server (77.244.*.*) on it that my computer found and it assigns my computer with an IP address which is not an internal one (109.175.*.*) and assigns the subnet mask (255.255.255.192) the internet works fine.

However I wanted to make the point wireless, so I attached a ADSL Router to it (via the router's LAN port), upon connecting to the router wirelessly I realised that I was just in a network with the router using it as a DHCP server (192.168.1.1) and I had an internal IP (192.168.1.2) so I connected to the router's web interface, put the DHCP server on relay and typed the 77.244.*.* one in, I also changed the subnet mask to the one before (255.255.255.192), after applying and reconnecting everything works! I am part of the greater network with my usual external IP, pot luck really.

However I have no idea what my new router's ip is it is not 192.168.1.1 anymore even tho in its config it's set to be that, so I can no longer access the web interface of it, how can I do this?

I dunno if this helps:

Assuming you're connected to the router type: "tracert www.techpowerup.com" into a command prompt (no quotes).

The first IP should be your router. Unless of course the router is working purely as a switch, in which case that wouldn't work because the router doesn't have an IP.

Ah I think that's what it must be doing the first is the gateway's ip 109.175.244.129, so this means I can't config it then?

does clicking on the router in the network map not open the router interface page?

chances are its acting purely as a switch and not routing any traffic at all.

The routers IP is still likely 192.168.1.1, however since your IP/Subnet are way off from that you likely won't be able to reach the router by typing that IP and any requests you make will be forwarded to the big network which has no idea where your router is.

To access the config page you will probably have to manually set your IP to something in the 192.168.1.X range and set the subnet to 255.255.255.0, then you should be to to make any configurations you need to the router.

Once you are done, set your computer back to pull and IP from the DHCP and you should be golden.

Personally, I'd just go get a real router eventually and run your own internal private network.
