Fallout 3 Mothership Zeta......wtf

well the way I see it is that with my old system that I'm using right now until I get my new parts

Intel E2140@3.5Ghz
Geforce 8800GS@800/2090/2000
MSI P35 Neo FR
2GB DDR2 800
SB Audigy 2

I can run fallout 3 with graphics on ultra and 2 aa at 1600x900 and get about over 30fps(about 50-70 mostly)

so you definitely must have a software problem or your running out of vram

fallout 3 dosent like backround programs!!i had utorrent running and the game crashed bad all the time:ohwell: and your 256mega card is not actuly helping you problem either:laugh:

I had a CTD by the way. Somethings wrong but so far, most of the lock ups have happened just after an autosave. I'm making progress but not very fast. :(

I really don't want to replace my graphics card until Larrabee is out. At all low settings and a resolution of 1024x768, there's no reason it should be crashing/locking up. Oblivion had similar crashes but once I got a ways in to it, they went away.

On topic, Mothership Zeta apparently is the lowest rated of the DLCs. I'm still trying to level up and get better gear before I take a whack at it.

mothership zeta is very "weird":p you either love it or hate it(BTW you will take a massive performance hit in the alien ship!! i hade a solid 60fps in the wasteland and 40-ish in the ship.)

I liked it, it was a bit too short but the ending is pretty good.

I got a bug, when I get to the part where you have to disable the death ray none of the switches are lit up and they don't work

Im pretty sure I have this bug

When receiving the objective to disable the Death Ray, if you go into the armory and grab the Destabilizer and test it on the Brahmin you strangely complete the quest and it tells you to go to the bridge. Sometimes not even this is required, and the quest will just randomly be marked as complete.

anyone know of a way to fix it

If it doesn't say there then your best bet is to load an old save and try again.

You need to activate the generators from the switches on the left/right of the room. Also the death ray firing button has to recharge for a few seconds each time before you can fire it.

Yay! I fixed all my lock ups and crashes. I had the wrong patch installed (US/UK) and I got it up to date (1.7). The music is still glitchy though. :(

Edit: Nope, still locks up but far less frequently.

I also figured out the buggy audio--had to turn off WCG/BOINC. :(

Mothership Zeta -magnitude crap was to be expected from Bethesda.
I refuse to call "Fallout 3" "Fallout 3". It is not fallout in any way, its oblivion with guns with a post apocalyptic theme.
Indeed.
There are so many things wrong with F3...
IMO, the worst of the worst:
- NPCs/dialogues are retarded
- quests are retarded
- weapons and armors are retarded

Dialogues and quests being moronic, feeble and utterly un-fun are the most serious issues.

Bethesda gets a *thumbs down*

really? name me a game that doesn't have retarded dialogue and characters, +1 fallout 3(all fallouts for that matter and elder scrolls woot), better then playing some crap mmo game

HEY!!
Interplay's website is back up! I remember when it only showed you the character of MDK as a teaser and nothing else (prior to that their link didn't work). I forgot to follow up on that as it's been some time ago (this year).

All I know is that I had to push the left most button many times. At one point, they weren't lit up (hence hitting it many times). As long as you don't push the second button from the left, it should be fine. I...

1. cleared the room of hostiles (three or four around the permieter).
2. saved just in front of the buttons.
3. pushed the button second from the left, saw the death ray warm up, and loaded the previous save (#2).
4. pushed the left button, waited for the generator to emerge, and blew it up.
5. checked the control panel and noticed none were lit up.
6. pushed the buttons on the right a few times (discovered it changes where the death ray aims).
7. was disgruntled that the other three generators were highlighted as objectives but nothing was indicating what to do, so I kept hitting the left button over and over again.

The last three popped up somewhere between step 6 and 7. I'm not sure exactly what caused them to.

It took me 8 hours from leaving Megaton (I was intending just to get the Alien Blaster and ammo from the wreck--wasn't planning on getting abducted) to getting all the crap I took from the ship (1500 weight worth) back to Megaton. Mind you, I took everything worth taking and repaired weapons (100% repair skill) to keep weight down. I ended up with some 30 fully repaired Alien Disintegrators and 13 Drone Cannons back at Megaton. I went in at level 29 and reached level 30 in the ship. I primarily used my Lincoln's Repeater rifle. I went in with around 600 .45 bullets and I got down to 6 by the time I reached the bridge. Judging by ammo alone, I'd say this DLC is 90% about combat.

It could be beat much faster if you don't horde everything like I do and just focused on the objectives.

I'll wait for the GOTY edition before i finally purchase this game. It's supposed to come out in mid October.

Yup. The only DLC I haven't played yet is Point Lookout. Mothership Zeta and Brotherhood of Steel was good (if only because it means no game over). The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage are blah. Both are short and don't contribute anything important to the game.

I hope GotY means a 1.8 patch for everyone else. There's still a lot of bugs in the original FO3.

i still cant run fallout 3 in fullscreen for some reason it only works in windowed mode

brotherhood of steel one was good, lets you continue on the story a bit more gives a lot to do
point lookout apparently takes a little while quest wise, gives you a new feel to the game something different i think but its not that fantastic

The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage are crap, the pitt added nothing new to the game you only get a few new items too nothing special, operation anchorage is just another quest 1 quest thats all, you get a nice gun and sword and the chinese suit that makes you go invisible the actual quest is pretty much not that interesting

the mothership zeta is probly the worst thats the general consensus, me ive yet to play it but i will soon

as for fallout 3 itself i think after im done i wont go back to it like i did with oblivion, i just cant be bothered repeating quests and doing the same stuff again but oblivion felt cool and fresh after a marathon session i did with one character it still was good to play again with the mods

This is my third time playing FO3. I beat it with good and bad karma not long after it came out. Now I'm playing it with good karma and all DLCs installed.

If you try to rush through Mothership Zeta shooting at everything that moves, it'll suck. If you go slow, explore, and try to figure out what their goals are, it's fun.
