OFFICIAL Fallout 4 (Discussion)

i recall a few optimized texture mods to boost performance, i wonder if theres an optimized 4K pack/combination that works well. Boosting what you see, lowering what you dont

Nice photo's!!
So I'm becoming un interested in this game, I realy lack direction. Just need someone to hint me into where I should be, just did the thing to make my raiders happy(after taking outposts). A lot of my assignments are ones that should have been done and werent, so there usless to me now. I haven't used any modes but am open to them to make this game appealing to me again, really feel lost and its my only game.
If you can give me suggestions, as I haven't a clue but seem to lazy to even load it. Thanks in advance!!!!

Any body playing still? I am stuck and can't find a way to go, I guess I'll look towards the minute men or the brotherhood of steel.

Haven't played for a couple of months, but tempted to start a new character. Institute or Raiders would be my desired direction.

Any body playing still? I am stuck and can't find a way to go, I guess I'll look towards the minute men or the brotherhood of steel.

I had a bad crash last year and lost hours and hours worth of progress, which put me off playing. I patched up the game recently to the latest version, refreshed existing mods to new versions, added some new mods and picked up where my last working save was.
I have been enjoying it very much and with the release of Nuka World, I decided I am going to convert to a Mad Max style character.

Most of the armor pieces and mods I need or believe I need are now stored away and are ready to be put together to complete the sets and make the conversion from nice suburbanite to ravenous wastelander (whom by the way says the Mad Max reboot was a terrible film).
However before I do that I have some missions and quests I want to tie up and finish first. And during those I do not want to go full raider just yet.

I am having a problem with ...

A ) Companion mod that makes them use the weapons I give them at appropriate ranges. More smarter companions and Better Companions should handle this each in their own way, yet fail to do so. Also adding Companion infinite ammunition mod to More smarter companions, has not worked either as they keep using the one ammunition I give them.

B ) Stealth. As far as I have experienced, stealth is determined by visual and sound.

  • Visual reduction can be addressed by :
  • Staying in darker areas
  • Being out of direct line of sight of a npc
  • Using armor mods such as Chameleon and/or a mod like Better sneaking

Once you are stationary, you can become virtually invisible in the right conditions.

Sound is more difficult to manage and more important to the overall stealth mechanic because results will be determined by how you manage your approach to an enemy, target or location. You can address this with :

  • The Muffled mod on armor, which reduces the sound you make in motion
  • The weight reduction mods which are supposed to make you less noisy
  • Sneak perk (at least to rank 4)

What I cannot seem to verify are :

  1. Do you still require Muffled mods/armor if you have Sneak rank 4 or greater?
  2. Does lower weight definitely affect noise and consequently detection levels?
  3. If weight is a factor, is it weight in lbs/kgs or is it by armor class (light vs sturdy vs tough)
  4. If weight is a factor in units (i.e. lbs/kgs), is it total equipped armor weight, total equipped item weight (all items, armor+guns etc.) or everything on your character?

This is important to me because I want to really understand and therefore build the right equipment set for this 'raider' character, which means I do not want a full on Stealth player - some of it will be walking up to people and barb wire batting them in the face...shades of Negan. I can't be the only one that named their slugger Lucille right?
What I want is a road leather, light weight styled, some what durable yet strategic when needed melee character.

If assuming armor weight does affect sneak, then is it better to use Raider Tough armor with Dreadnaught + Ultra Light weight mod to get the durability + weight reduction, or Raider Light armor with something else, such as Lead lined?

Or do I just drop my armor pieces and use the underarmor/clothing + ballistic weave MK V to offset any durability loss, while naturally reducing weight?

Glad to see people still playing this. I actually hope they do not release another Fallout or TES for a few more years at least - let the mod community continue to make this and Skyrim into awesome long lasting and highly replayable titles.

My fave mission thus far is the one where Dog Meat is helping you sniff down the cunt who kidnapped the kid and killed the wife.

I'm personally hoping that Obsidian is working on creating another Fallout game while Beth works on ES VI.

I was kind of disappointed that they didn't give you the option to spare Kellogg, he reminds of Benny in FONV, first playthrough I wanted revenge, second playthrough it didn't matter.

LOL no one would be alive if you took any member of my family for real, so i don't sympathise with him.

@newconroe
I know in the upgrades when you level up, you can add to stealh mode(I forget which setting) but its in the there and self explanitory........ Sorry haven't played much as I just got Doom 2016 and been glued on it. But I do really wanna finish my saved game, I think alot of what I need to finish is left over stuff that I can't finish cause I had done other misions first or out of order(if that makes any sense). I'm not even sure I can finish, but I do still have them army missions(the bortherhood of steel) so IM hopping. OH and a few nuka missions like make the raiders happy after they took over another camps site, etc. I have used modes from the console hacks(god mode) that may be why its so boring to me?

Killing him once was enough for me, also could have made for a much more interesting second playthrough to have him help you stop the Institute.

Beth is releasing a high resolution texture pack next week, 58GB of space is needed.

Official High Resolution Texture Pack for PC
Also available next week, with so many fans still actively playing Fallout 4 on Steam, we’re excited to announce the release of the game’s High-Resolution Texture Pack. Consider this free download a love letter to our amazing PC fans that have supported us – not just with Fallout 4, but across multiple decades and games.

Note: To utilize the High-Resolution Texture Pack, make sure you have an additional 58 GB of available and that your system meets/exceeds the recommended specs below.

Recommended PC Specs
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7-5820K or better
GTX 1080 8GB
8GB+ Ram

If your system can handle it, the Commonwealth will look better than ever. Give it a shot and if you need to return to the original textures, you can disable them within the game’s launcher menu.

Not only that but they are asking for a hexa-core CPU.

LOL @ Bethesda.

they arent fucking around with those recommended specs

LOL @ Bethesda.

I find it hard to believe that we need an i7 6 core cpu to run this. Can this be for real? Pretty much the average gamer will not have a CPU like this. I will be testing this with my 6600K and we'll see how it goes.

my guess is the requirements are simply overkill so they dont waste time doing tech support for people who think 4K texture packs should run on their intel IGP laptop.

I cant even max all the graphics out on a 1080 at 4k with stock textures.

Any feedback on the texture pack? I'm still downloading it here.
Guess I'm gonna cry when I try to play on my pc tho... :(

got it, can barely see a difference. Little to no performance hit, but also no changes in game - had to google for examples to even notice it had changed.

Precisely my take on it. Now I have 94GB of disappointment...
