My new heat sink only came with one set of fan clips so I used a large rubber band to mount the second fan. Will that rubber band melt at all. My thinking is it won't but has anyone tried this long term. The reason I ask is I actually prefer this instead of the pain in the ass clips and may buy one big black rubber band to hold both fans on. Believe or not it doesn't look bad either.

No, it will be fine.
You would have way bigger things to worry about if your heatsink is getting hot enough to melt rubber.

I might be worried about vibration cutting the rubber on say the edge of a fin, but no way is it going to melt/burn IMHO. I've seen zipties used, one passing all the way throuhg both sets of fan holse, then cut off the lock from another and sinch the fans to the cooler. Rinse and repeat for all four corners.

Have you ordered the second set of wiremounts? The rubber band is temporary right? The ziptie idea is more permanent/long term.

Not even sure I need a second fan really this thing is well within the Cpu heat limits with one. I'm just too lazy to screw with the stupid fan clips to get the rubber band from under it so I can take fan two off. Plus I like the rubber band better to tell the truth. I would like to buy one big one and band both on, a nice jet black one. Peete you know I like the TRUE but what I hated about that bastard was how delicate it was those fins bend easy , but not so with my Noctua and this monster MEG. Plus I hate fxxking fan clips. I would never buy a TRUE without the fan enclosures.

seeing as many coolers as I do, you get used to the wire mounts soon enough, did loose a few knuckles on some of the sharper finned coolers first though.

A lot of ppl said that about the SpinQ cooler too, I had no such issues when testing that. I could see how a drunken overclocking session could get ugly fast, but I think you really gotta be doing it all wrong to shred up your hand on a cooler.

but its freeking HUGE...look at the difference of your sweet ass mega versus the top half of the mobo that thing needs...lol

rubber bands get dry and crack and fall off eventually, keep it changed, why not just get like a long thin wire and put it on there that way?

I want to strap it to a axe handle and make it my new burglar stopper  can you image that cooler strapped to a axe handle:D
