If you have a Microcenter nearby, they have the Samsung F3 500GB for $40. Not as fast of seekers as the Blacks are but they make up for it in raw throughput.

If you want the fastest conventional hard drive, I would suggest getting the best deal you can for either a WD Caviar Black or Samsung F3.

I replaced a raptorX with a 16mb cache seagate 7200.12 and didn't notice any slowdown
