It's been a while since I built computers myself so I want to get some of you guys' feedback on this config. I am building budget-concious rigs because I need to build 3 of them and don't want to spend too much money. I just want fast systems that can game pretty well and are under $800.00 a pop.

I spent some time on Newegg putting together this list based on good performance and high quality-to-value components. Overclocking is not something I care about. What I really need is for you pro builders to make sure all of these components are going to play nice together and not give me grief.

Is 420 watts enough to power this rig?
Is this memory going to work on this mobo?
Will this mobo support the 6000+ X2 chip?

Anyway, here is the list of parts I chose.

TIA to anyone that responds.

Titles have links to Newegg...

APEVIA X-Dreamer Mid Tower Computer Case ATX 420W power supply ($59.99)

Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM ($67.99)

XFX GeForce 7900GS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 EXTREME ($169.99)

LITE-ON Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive ($17.99)

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel($153.00)

The motherboard you have planned for your system is a load of sh!t. You should downgrade the cpu, and get a better motherboard. 420W from a generic power supply is ok.., but you should get a better unit, generics are known for early failure.

Swap your cpu for a 5200+ ($175.00)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103759

And swap the motherboard for the Biostar TForce 550, not bad oc mobo ($79.99) + $10 MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138026

And of course pickup a better powersupply,
I leave it to you on that one.

This would shave some more $ off your setup, and provide better tweakability as well. :D

EDIT: I went deal hunting and found a cheaper 7900GS from Foxconn, has a bigger heatsink as well
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814186013 ($129.99 after $45 MIR) very nice!
^^^ lol comes with a usb gamepad

$800 per machine? It's going to be a bit difficult to fit within that budget until the Intel price cuts come along...

Yes, you will need more amps on the 12 rail for that GPU.
You don't need 2Gb memory per machine, 1Gb should suffice.
Should be able to find cheaper CPU"S and they don't realy need to be X2 6000, X2 4800 thru 5600 should be enough.
Yes get better motherboards.
