hey new to the list
i have a k7mnf-64 motherboard with a sempron3000dut4d cpu
i would like of course to learn to overclock it eventually but for right now i would
be happy to get out of it what it was originally made for.
the mobo is supposed to support a FSB of 266/333/400 mhz
my bios only shows something like 100/166/200 WHY???
do i need to upgrade my bios? if so where do i get it? I've looked everywhere for a new one.
i have two 512 sticks of ram @ 400mhz and it has a phoenix 6v bios
every benchmark or cpuid say its an athlon 1.2ghz that part i really don't understand
because it say on the cpu AMD Sempron sda3000dut4d.
i looked it up 3ghz effective 2ghz actual. this thing should be humming.
FSB is stuck at 100mhz tried to raise it and it went black.
after looking up the manual i found that there is a jumper on the board to prevent
bios change duh.
before i go jacking with it i was wanting to find out if I'm thinking right about removing jumper and adjusting the FSB.
i mean aren't there other things to consider? like the multiplier? and how and when do you change it? if you do at all.
VOLTAGES that's a scary one in its self.
i think I'm getting on the right track but i really need some information from someone
that really knows why its not performing at peak and how to fix it.
after that then i will probably want to try overclocking but first i would just like to get it
up to snuff so to speak. thanks :banghead:

Hi, I read your post and it sounds like the same thing I've been trying to figure out.I was just wondering if you have figured this out since you posted this,if so would you mind telling me how to do the same? Thanks.

well on the mobo there is a jumper that says bios not to be confused with the bios reset jumper this one is more to the center of the board.
power off i removed jumper and powered up.
it then let me change FSB to 166. my options were 100/166/200
i then set the memory frequency to auto it seemed to like that better.
the rest i don't really know if it matters but

frame buffer size 64m

agp aperture size 32m

agp 8x support enabled

agp fast write enabled

this brought me from 1.2ghz to 2.0 with no problems. i don't have stock cooling .
i have a smart silent volcano 9 p/n a1365 google it for basic info.
the k7mnf has what they call a smart control or something like that so i really haven't
had to use the thermistor i just let the mobo control cooling fan speed.
i then ran cpuid from majorgeeks.com to be sure that it worked.
that's it so far i haven't changed any voltages or anything yet.
hope this helps.
