It says as much on the filefront.com page. It should be the most recent announcement.

and i already got my hopes up:shadedshu die filefront die

why would you possibly want filefront to die?

yeah - I was headed over here to update the other thread regarding filefront.

it seems what has happened . . . the owners of filefront had sold the site to another company. This other company, after gaining ownership, had decided to close down the site altogether. Not wanting to see their site disappear like that, they purchased the site back . . .

so, it appears that filefront is back in the hands of the original owners - and the site will continue.

Bad timing, though . . . it comes across like it was an april fools joke.

i don't understand how they didn't have the finances to run that website, yet had the money to purchase it back:confused:

Personally,i think gamershell is better.

i agree. i click 1 download link and there i go. i go to filefront and i have to click through like 3 things till i get to start downloading. I prefer simplicity

the details that I've picked up are a little sketchy . . . but the original owners sold the site at profit, then were able to re-purchase the site at a bargain price . . .

in essence, they actually made a little money during the turn-around.

Why would you buy a site just to close it...? Did their competition buy it?

Filefront is the simplest ive ever found. places like gamespy. oh sign up here. then you sign up and have to find your file again. Then 4 weeks later when you need a new patch, you cant remember what account and password you used.

exactly, and they display the links you can download from and how much bandwidth is in use for that link. very good website, no sign up as tigger said. top FF for sure, and it has good download speeds
