Processor AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Motherboard DFI LanParty nf4 Ultra-D
Cooling Thermaltake Big Typhoon
Memory 2x512MB GeIL
Video Card(s) ATI Radeon X800XL
Storage 2x80GB Western Digital
Display(s) HP vs17
Case SuperTalent
Audio Device(s) Soundblaster
Power Supply Ultra X-Finity 500 Watt
This is it, the final specs on my new comp:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
JetWay 939GT4-SLI-G (Good reviews, close to DFI LanParty boards)
2x 80GB Western Digital SATA 3GB/s HDD(Already have Seagate Barracuda 250GB w/ 16mb cache)
Gigaram 1GB (2x512MB) DDR 400 (Good reviews on overclocking)

If you're fast enough reply and recommend something else, go for it, but all these I chose got good reviews.

Thanks,
-Azn

(Would like to thank markkleb for recommending the JetWay! One questions though, are there any problems between the JetWay and ATI cards?)

hm i would personnaly go for the intel 775 board an pentium d 805 til conroe and some nice ddr2 ram is just better for future

ummmm he already has an 820 lol make sure to check his specs before posting not to mention he's probably planning on gaming and the 820 already has issues with gaming not seeing how a severe downgrade would help him any there.

looks good Azn
I'm assuming same vid then?

its just for ocing and being rdy for future ist not a downgrade u cant oc a 820 really

Still, when I read benchmarks, the 3200+ still beats the overclocked 805's in games. My 820 is good right now, but only helps in Call of Duty 2 and Quake 4, besides that, it can be beaten easily.

BTW, If I'm going to get an 805, I would also have to get a motherboard that supports Conroe because there's no point in buying now when Conroe comes out in a month.

Thanks, yeah, same video card. If DirectX10 cards are coming out w/ Vista Q1 of 2007, then, I'ma just wait for the best mid-range DirectX10 and one of the cheapest Vista.

Stop bothering AZN! its taken me hundreds of posts to help him make up his mind...LOL

First the Ati cards work fine on the Jetway (mine is a X800GTO)

The 805 is all flash (not really good)

The Conroe is CRAZY FAST (but the 2.93 ver is $1000) But really who is gonna spend that much for a CPU? Guess how much the 965 mobo is? I bet its LOTS more than $100

If you do not live for benchmarks whats the point?

In a while there will be DDR3, AMD will come out with its four core and blablabla.

Save ur money and get something that works for you and enjoy it...

PS if you want to really freak out watch as AMD stops selling 1mb cache CPU's (except for the FX and Opty) http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32452

So...what are you saying? Just don't buy...wait till later...or what. I actually had my mind made up on this too, now you say don't buy.

Buy what you like. Dont let others make you feel like you need 1 over the other to be cool.
the comp on ur first post was nice. (except you should get another Baracuda for a Raid0)

i dont know about the amd 3200 but there are massive price cuts all around for all cpu's over the next month. It all depends on how badly you want your new system. If you want it now go ahead and buy it its your money :)

I want a new comp that I can play games on, burn DVD's and CD's, Internet, schoolwork, and oh yeah, game and still last a while. I know that the Athlon 64 3200+ will do that and like you guys said, it'll still last me a while. The JetWay will let me overclock it, the hard drive is enough for me, but as you said, I'll get 2x 80GB ones (don't need 320GB). The Gigaram overclocks nicely too. My X800XL will last me until Vista, and that's where I'll get the major stuff (Dual-Core, 2GB, mid-range SLI,).

That's basically what I need it for markkleb, and I don't think I need the fancy expensive stuff like Conroe. I don't play at the highest resolutions, only at 1024x768 or 1280x1024, so XL is fine (mid-range SLI when Vista comes). I don't need much space, 160GB is fine, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ will play games nicely, FarCry at 64-bit, and do all of my stuff. And the JetWay will be fine for me. Thanks again markkleb, and that's my final decision on the comp. Will get it soon.

Thanks again,
-Azn

Thats one hell of a machine you've got there. What are you using it for, do you do a lot of video editing?

Let me know how overclocking gets on on 3D mark. Also try PC Mark 04

What machine, the one I have now, or the one I'm planning on getting?

HDD, replace it with the WD 250GB, you get the extra cache for ncq that makes quite a bit of overall difference.

^If you look on my first post, I already have it.

any hdd suffers without the extra cache, thats my point. so match them both for cache size and capacity, especially if you intend to raid them.

Wait....how does it suffer though? I know the 16mb cache makes a difference but still...

...................

a bit weird but who knows

http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/10/dual_41_ghz_cores/

here for d805 performance it beats a fx-60

and i just wanted to point out that a conroe board and ddr2 mem would be the decision with could be easily updated in a year or two nothing more while socket 939 is death

but every man has to do it for itself
