When I first got my card, I was running 600/600 stable as can be. 20 minutes with no artifacts and hours of oblivion with no problems at all. After doing some computer matinence, it suddenly started locking up on me at anything over 585 core. I have tried for three months to solve this with very few results, until tonight.
A review at tomshardware tipped me off that the ATI hot key poller and ATI smart had to do with voltage controls. I checked my services and sure enough, I turned both of them off, click, click, boom. They are now back on and my X1800GTO flies again, 0 lock ups . my 3dmark score is BAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7600
Anyway, if you are having lockup problems, make sure that ATI Smart and ATI hotkey poller are turned on.
