I'm new in the overclocking world and thought it was a good start, and safer, to overclock my RAM.

I currently have a 3200 Mhz 14CL. I overclocked it to 3600 Mhz 16CL.

Here's what I've changed :
System memory multiplier 36
Infinity fabric frequency 1900 MHz
DRAM Voltage 1.350v
CAS Latency 16
tRCDRD 16
tRCDWR 16
tRP 16
tRAS 40

I ran tests, no errors. Results of benchmark attached.

In your opinion, did I do any mistakes? Or can I do better?

My config
Ryzen 3950X
X570 Aorus Master
G. SKILL Ripjaw V series 32GB (2x16GB) PC4 25600 - F4-3200C14D-32GVK

if ya did leave some voltages on auto there is a possibility that some are pushed higher then needed.
some mainboards tend to push unhealthy volts especially on older bios versions
so ya should look after tools like hwinfo64 or hwmonitor64 or aida64.

for ex. aidia64 has a memory test run which is easy comparable.

Ah and welcome to Tpu forums

Looks like that's bdie, and if its completing memtest at 3600 at stock voltage, seems like you got a good cpu and memory samples. Many people push bdie up to 1.40+ voltage. Try mem speed 3800 since your IF is 1900, 1.4v, and make sure to test thoroughly not just 1 run of memtest86.

Looks like a nice bump in frequency without having to loosen timings much at all. Any performance benefit from 3200 CL14 to 3600 CL16?

Also curious what your tRFC and tREFI were/are? I believe there is performance left to unlock if you have not looked at those subtimings.

Either raise your memory frequency to 3800MHz, or lower infinity fabric to 1800Mhz. you have to set it manually to FCLK=UCLK if you go above 1800MHz infinity fabric and RAM over 3600MHz. At least that's how it was with my BIOS when i had ZEN 2 CPU.

I've change Infinity to 1800 for 1:1 scaling (advice taken from a website).

I didn't had the time to test if there is any performance benefit yet. But will do today!

I've posted all my subtiming. In the previous answer. Don't hesitate to tell me if there is still some things I could change for more perf.

Thx!

A small tip, if you have a FAT32 formatted USB drive plugged in, you can press F12 to grab screenshots in the UEFI that will be automagically saved to the USB drive.

3600 being the sweet spot just means you shouldn't really pay more for 4000+mhz ram, unless you need/want the absolute best performance.

The faster the better, as long as you keep it 1:1

Try 3800MHz and infinity fabric 1900MHz. Maybe you can do it. I have that. But memory timings are CL 16,19,19,19,39. I can also go to 4000 RAM and 2000MHz for infinity fabric in 1: ratio. But my RAM then has to run at CL 18,20,20,20,40. Which gives higher RAM latency in Aida64 benchmark. 1900MHz for infinity fabric is maximum for your ZEN 2.

I don't really know how to "read" and how to interpret those results... (never used AIDA64 before)

Just look at the upper row. You want R/W/C as high as you can get it, with latency as low as you can get it. Basically, if you can get your RAM to work at 3800MHz and still have stable 1900Mhz infinity fabric clock, with it being in 1:1 ratio. Then that's it for your memory speed and infinity clock. From there just try to get as low as you can with timings on your RAM

The number you want to focus on is memory latency in the top right corner. The faster the mhz and tighter the timings, the lower that number will go. If you are at 3800 and didn't touch timing and your latency is that high, check to see if you are 1T command rate and if you are still 1:1 with IF. 1T will help latency alot, but you'll probably have to adjust the other timings.

Sorry for my "noobiness" :) but how do I check 1T and the ratio ?

Download CPUz (if you don't have it already) and then take a look at the memory tab, like this. You will see command rate listed here.

Not half bad, try tuning the tRFC as that's most likely your "bottle neck" right now.
You should be able to reduce the latency by 1-2ns over where you are now, if you want to keep tuning.

Hi there! here you go the maximum from this ram from same kit owner:
voltage i've tried, max: 1.5v
max stable clock: 4100 mhz
latencies for this clock: 16-16-16-33

CPU and MB: Intel i5-10600K & Asus Prime Z490-P.

also tried: 4000.15-16-16-33/1.5v. if you wan't, PM me, I will try to find nice latencies for you red baby's sweet spot, 3733-3866 mhz, correct me, which is right ram clock for 1:1 IF ratio :)

comments: cpu memory controller dependent. tried same on i5-10400F and was sent to ***, no luck :D
voltage dependent. you wont hit the stars with less than 1.45v ;)

method of parameters found: MANUAL. all this calculators are useless for me as they are too "rocket science" for me, i can't load my xmp (anyone knows the program besides trash Thaiphoon Burner, which doesn't work.....??)

So i hope it could gice you a good start :)

3600.16 is just "okay-ish" for this bad-ass value ram. ;D

Hello. Cas, and as you have written above, so, first timings, if i’m correct. As i’ve mentioned above, i don’t know IF value, as i have Intel cpu.

IF must be 2050 for 1:1 ratio I suppose, but I don't know if it's possible (I've read somewhere than the max was 1900...??).

Waiting for a confirmation of
storm-chaser
or
basco
or anyone who knows the answer... :)

1900 is usually the limit for IF and while you technically could get faster if you have a golden chip, 2050 is probably too much. Since you're at 1900 IF, 3800 mem already you should start tuning your timings. This is where it starts getting tricky as going to low will cause your system not to boot and you'll have to clear cmos. Just take it step by step and make sure to test extensively as bad timings can corrupt your OS.
