First water cooled pc in two decades

I need to put one of those little spinning wheel thingies in my loop so I can see at a glance the pump is working...

Has anyone that uses antifreeze ever really had to flush/change their system for any specific reason? Just wondering how the mix reacts over time in this scenario.

New loops always have crap in them rads typically are the dirtiest item and very tough to get all the solder sludge out.
I always filter any liquid going into a pc loop.

Talking about automotive goodies I also use a custom auto glass gas filter in a loop so all the fine crap gets collected before it hits the water block.
Auto zone has a good one but I'm sure other auto parts places also have some.

I asked the question because I recently viewed a YouTube video of a fellow who has a homemade water cooled concoction sitting out on his back deck outside. He stated his was only about a 20% solution and had been running for at least three years 24/7 with zero maintenance. He used clear flexible tubing and it was only mildly discolored.

Ah, I should also state that my current PC has been running (not 24/7) but for over two years with no maintenance and I literally just topped it off recently as the fluid had dropped maybe 3 mm in that time. I also use cheap plastic tubing that I purchase at Lowes. My tubing needs replacing at this point as it looks terribly plasticized, but as I am the only one who sees it I could care less. I would also like to add that the only negative experience I had was with an old reservoir cracking over time. I would say I used it maybe 10 years before the cracks were from bottom to top but not through and leaking, looked like shattered glass. I have been using its replacement since around 2017 and it is still in tact with no cracks or issues. I think the old res was a different type of material compared to the newer models but I am not totally sure on that.

I did flush the new radiator before installing...that was the extent of my cleaning.

Shacking a rad ... I don't believe it's a reliable way to flush a rad.
I started flushing rads using the D5 pump/ res connected because shit loosens up over time and just let it run as long as schedule allowed.
At the least over night.
Same deal leak testing with the filter connected to
But then again I use a ton of QDC's and soft tubing hehe so it's ezpz

The last time I had a loop installed with 50/50, I gotten 3 years from it. Still looked new. Probably a very long time past that.

By the way yeah I like to be able to see things at a glance so much I routed my water temp sensor on top/ front of my case instead of inside the case or with software hehe
The flow wheel though nope never saw any use for one of those
Reservoir activity says the same thing.

Best reasoning is I don't run monitoring software all the time but if there is ever an issue water temp will change before thermal shut down lol

My reservoir is filled to the brim, but I can see the flow when the pump ramps up.

Nope - Pump is spinning at 3700 rpm at idle and ramps up to full speed by 85C. Fans ramp up according to temp. I can try full speed on the pump, but I doubt it will have much effect on idle temps.

CoreTemp showing the same as Hwinfo...what should a 7900 cpu be registering on water at idle?

Hi,
Room temperature and idle temp shouldn't be more than 10c apart, matter of fact cold startup you should be no less than 2-3c difference than room temp is.
Seeing your D15 was doing the same tells me your room is very hot.
This is why I asked did you do some quick tests before you ran coretemp.

I idle at around 20-25 C and load at 40-50 so that's with two 240mm radiators but also a 400 W GPU in the loop.

If you look at the expanded table above you can see it is showing about 27c, so CoreTemp is not displaying the true temperature at idle. Seems to be correct under load though.

With these cpu's...yeah it will. They boost to the moon even idling.

Yes, it is showing die temp. Other than that it appears to be correct. The minimum does not concern me, but the maximum sure does... I use CoreTemp because it is easy for me to see with these aged eyes.

Just now figured out that CoreTemp's max figure is showing what temp a single core registered. In this test it was my core 5...all other cores were less.
