dear tech power up fourm members

i have read a lots and lots of opinions about unlocking the extra 4 pips in the x850 pro well some said its worth it some say its not , well any way i have some issuses here i would like to disscuse with someone have allready done it sucssecfully in windows mode ( i prefer to do that ) .
so my card is an ati by ati x850 pro agp 256 ram 1.06 i guess with the yellow connector beside the power jack
iam using the ati utility (ati win flash ) from within windows
downloaded x850xt bios files from tech power up downloads
made a backup copy of my original bios via ati tray tool
and here where it gets funny :
1- i've tried the flashing utility at my pc at work on my x300 64 mega agp card for testing it reads fine and displays the correct bios info.
2- same steps at home usuing latest ati win flash version avalible on tpo
and a wierd message pops up ( cannot find discreet ati video card !!!!!!!!!!!!)
3- iam sure that my card is an ati :):):) iam not that much of a nooob :banghead:
4- iam useing latest ati cat's 6.4 (could it be the problem ??? iam too lazy to download and install 6.3 cats so i preferd to ask first :)
my questions r :
1- why cant the ati win flash utility see my current vga bios ?
2- in the hardware manager at display adapters show's 2 ati x850 main and secondary !!! i think its a bios backup and it could be what is confussing the flash utility .(ps i found the same on my pc at work 2 x300's but the flash utility worked ).
3- by unlocking extra pipes is the card gonna generate extra heat ???( stock fan is not that good looking for a replacment not too easy where i come from :( )

thanks folks for ur help

well the article is realy helpfull but it didnt answer some of my questions and i think there is no proof of a succesfull windows mode bios flash for the x850 pro agp (petty)
any way i'll try the mentiond method and w'll see :)

was this problem fixed? I am having the same trouble with my ATI X850Pro (vivo) card. For some reason neither flashrom nor winflash will open. Flashrom opens the command promt, then closes right away. Winflash, when opened, pops up a message that reads: "Cannot find discrete ATI Video Card".

I went to the link above and tried ATIFlash3.09 and that doesn't seem to work either. I press any button and the program closes.
