What is flashing exactly and could I flash my 2600XT to an XTX?

There is no XTX 2600

You can flash a 2900pro into a XT if it will overclock to the same speeds. This is because it is the same card just underclocked.

'Flashing' is erasing the video cards bios (basic input output system) and replaces it with another one that either has modified clocks or tells the card it is a completely different card.

The last flash I performed was on an ATI 9800pro, so I cannot answer if the 2600xt is flashable'.

Nope as DaMulta says, there is nothing to flash it too thats the same chip but higher. However if Rabit has been updated you can modify the BIOS to tweak and improve performance and then flash that modded BIOS to the card.

I modded by 8800GTS BIOS, all I did was increase the stock shader clocks from 1180mhz to 1350, each time I overclock the core now the Shader clock automatically gets overclocked, but not from the starting point of 1180 but from 1350, the end result is over 400 3D Mark 2006 points :toast:
