I'm currently being forced to play Grim Dwan @ 1440p with low quality @ fullscreen. If i try to change to a lower resolution, such as 1080p, this happens:

Other lower resolutions also give the same problem.

Tried taking screenies of it and, to my surprise, the screenies look perfectly fine, showing the game like it was before changing the resolution. Tried recording it via SimpleScreenRecorder and same thing happens.

This doesn't happen if i play in a window: only in fullscreen.

Any ideas?

Hi

monitor resolution is native 4K; set monitor resolution to 1080p on desktop screen
Next

It's the monitor on my specs, yes.

Current resolution on desktop is 1440p.

Just tried your suggestion to put the desktop @ 1080p and then the game @ same resolution and it works.

Is there a way to automate in Ubuntu 16.04 the game's shortcut to also do:

- change from 1440p to 1080p in desktop
- run game
- change resolution back to 1440p in desktop, after exiting game

Thanks, regardless!

That said, about a bit less then 2 months ago, this wasn't happening. Since then, @ least 1 full OS re-install but this persists.

Not that I am aware of; however other members of the community may know a way; hope you find a fix.

Give this a try: https://lutris.net/ . You'll be able to force the desktop resolution to 1080p and on game termination, it should restore your desktop back to preferred resolution. This launcher is great for playing Windows games (via WINE installed) as well! But this will work with native Linux games too!

To me it distorts which is normal, have you tried adjusting the monitor settings itself so everything is in full view?

You mean these (attach)? If i press the Alt key while in game, the game locks straight away (does not happen in a window: only in fullscreen). That's what i have changed, per Law-II's suggestion, before entering the game: if i set the resolution to 1080p before entering the game, the game's OK.

I've only tested 2 resolutions besides 1440p (1080p and 1200p) but this leads me to believe that i can only play @ the resolution set in the desktop before entering the game: if i attempt another resolution while in game, the game gets skewed like the video below.

Notice the pic i took in the video: it's OK, even though the image on screen is totally skewed. Did not behave this way, originally, and i dunno what changed: OS re-install didn't fix.

I'll give this a try latter and report back.

Sounds like a limitation in the game. Might need a patch or file parameter adjustment, i don't know what exactly as I don't own those games

According to game designer, it isn't game related: http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67622

He suggested i asked in a Linux forum, which i did but, after 24 days with no replies, i opted to post here.

Wasn't aware that it's the same thing as PoL: thought it was just some config prog that helped do the resolution changes before / after.

It works, though: just played a bit with it.

EDIT

Spoke too soon :(
