Forspoken Benchmark Test & Performance Analysis

as it seems AMD failed in this case, except RX 7900, without explanation
RDNA2 cards perform about the same compared to 7000 series as in most other games.

What exactly did they fail at, do you expect a 6900XT to perform the same as a 7900XTX, or what ?

Having played the demo dodging and clicking as fast as possible seems to be all there's to it. She did some cool moves from time to time, but I have no idea how or even why, because every single thing in the demo could be killed by just dodging and clicking.

In any case a mix of mid-high settings is probably ok for 4K on my 3060ti, depending on your definition of "ok".
Yeah there's clearly some advantage to attacking when dodging and in the air but there's no explanation as to why it works sometimes and doesn't work other times. The world looks incredibly empty except for creatures to kill so I probably won't be getting it. Still, the power of DirectStorage has me excited.

Tried the demo, ran pretty badly and the performance is all over the place with my 3060 Ti.

2560x1080/High texures/RT off/DLSS Quality rest maxed out and when I'm only running around it stays at 60-ish fps but when I fight enemies it can go anywhere from 35-50+ depending on what I fight or which skills I'm using.
For example those water spell caster enemies and mini boss on the bridge is a fps tank, during some big water blast/explosion spell the mini boss threw at me I've seen drops as low as 35-39 fps then it jumps back to 50+ really not a nice experience.

To me a years old HZD did not look worse in overall and that ran just fine on my old GTX 1070 when I played the game.

Also there is this,I'm yet to try it personally but I might do that later and install the game on my crappy old sata SSD:

The game seems to have been made with one goal in mind. To make AMD cards look better than the greens and it still fails.

Thank you next.

It's amazing how fanboys can spin anything in their mind to be some conspiracy by The Enemy. The game performs better on Nvidia cards despite being sponsored by AMD, so that means Square Enix FAILED in their obvious attempt to make AMD cards look good. They spent all that money developing this game and hiring a Hollywood actor to be in it just to spite Nvidia. Which a Japanese company would be doing... for reasons! Good reasons! Yes, it all makes sense in my brain! I also like to drink paint!

50 or 51 days without new drivers and no drivers 0-day for new launches like this, all websites are worried about it.

But does the performance look uncharacteristically low compared to 7000 series vs previous titles ? No. So until then, what exactly is the worry ?

AMD sponsored game where Nvidia cards don't underperform which is usually the exact opposite when Nvidia does it and the game runs like crap on anything that's not the latest gen from Nvidia like Portal RTX.

Fanboy is confused, frantically shuffling his notes :

AMD FAILED TO GIMP THEIR COMPETITORS LIKE NVIDIA DOES, HA, GOT EM ! AMD SUCKS.

That's how stupid this sounds.

The demo runs well for me when I do Ultra custom settings.

So I will disable one of the Ray options and at 3440x1440 with FSR 2 quality it does 50-60 fps

If I take FSR off those same settings will have me at 40-45 fps.

But the 10GB 3080 is outperforming it's 16GB competition?

I do appreciate AMD seem to have abandoned RDNA2 recently.
lol the last driver for RDNA 2 was in Dec and its January. I would hardly call that abandoned.

Unless there is an official announcement from AMD.......

it requires 11GB of VRAM at 1080p when even the most demanding games require half of that (because they have in mind the GTX1060), then yes. I don't see any other reason for a developer to release a game like this.
It's not a benchmark tool or a glimpse of a next gen game.
It's tailored to consume vram no matter what. That's why the jump from 1080p to 4K does not make any sense. From 11GB to 13GB.

If it really require 11GB for 1080p, it would need 16+ for 4K.

Thank you next. Again.

Or they're so familair with Nvidia cards & coding that they messed some up code when trying to code properly for AMD cards.

With every new article this game becomes to be more ridiculous.

you mean ubisoft

Ah, yeah... But Square Enix were fast behind UBI, sadly and forspoken is 82chf~ for me

What's wrong with the textures on Ultra+RT on the deck the player character is standing on in Screenshot #2? They look worse than the low setting.

Not all things are average FPS, there is other aspects that a good driver can influence, like stuttering problems,, minimum FPS, missing textures, colour corruption and, if I'm not wrong. DirectStorage 1.1 requires drivers adapted to.

I am looking forward to the separate Direct Storage review! :toast:

That's effing insane, 11GB memory usage at 1080p and 4090 can only do 120fps. How unoptimised is the engine?

Finally we can ditch Crysis and say can it run forespoken?

Looking forward to DirectStorage review. It can be very useful for future titles and potentially lead to more crowded open worlds. Honestly that's the only thing that interests me about this game. Nice review as always and I can see why they didnt give reviewers an early access. $$$

Guys !!!!!!!!!!! ........... Monitoring Software show VRAM Allocated not "VRAM USED" ........ All games allocate more VRAM when you have Much VRAM ..... So it doesn't mean anything to compare VRAM Allocated on Different GPU's !!!

Forspoken uses only 9 GB (Max Settings in 4K) with 4070 Ti ........ it's proof that the game doesn't really need 14 GB VRAM in 4K.

It's the same what Windows do with your RAM .... it uses "Unused memory" for cache (to launch apps fast) ... in games it uses the rest of memory to save textures (previously loaded).

VRAM is not RAM ..... Games must use the max of VRAM because having 50% unused VRAM or 20% or 10% doesn't change anything for you.

It works very badly in older generations. It sucks on gtx 1060.
When I look at the graphics, there is NOTHING to say oh my god.
Optimization is garbage. Companies are putting pressure on game makers, especially Nvidia, they are releasing and selling such non-optimized games to sell their new cards. Of course everyone is looking at money.
It's not a game I would buy.
It didn't work very well even on my RTX 3070.
It's hard to get 75 FPS at 1080p.
On high settings it will get maybe 75-85 FPS.

I'm really confused about this game. It looks worse than a lot of older games, but has worse performance too...

The game doesn't seem to run well on PS5 either according to digital foundry, so this just looks like a bad engine/game.
