The GPU bump from recommended to ideal is pretty big. I’m guessing recommended is for 1080p@60 and ideal 4K@60?

Yeah, they aren't all clear in that, you might be right.

I can play Forza 4 , 1440p @ 120fps, would be nice if I can play Forza 5 @ 1440p 120fps high as well.

Hmm, those ideal requirements do look like 4K60. I can get aroundish 70 to 130 FPS in FH4 depending on the area on 4K. Though I'm preeeetty sure that's with RTX off :roll:

The other requirements do look nice, a lot of people might be able to play it with the auto optimized settings (or whatever it's called).

Yeah that looks right, the 2070 and 2080 are great cards for 1440p @ 120FPS

The annoying thing is that even at 4K and 4x MSAA I still see jaggies sometimes.

It won't be the case once previous gen is dropped. No need to deal with uncompressed textures due to shitty old jaguar cores.

You got an 3080Ti, try MSAA 8x

Edit: Forza's 4 maximum fps depends on how high you have set the refresh-rate of the desktop.

Hope there is a real full-screen with Forza 5.

And to this day I don't get why Horizon 4 takes up so much space. Even at ultra settings it doesn't look that good and huge maps like that were available in TDU games decade ago at much lower space requirements. SSD innovation has more or less stagnated and they don't really get cheaper, thus many buyers simply can't afford big SSDs or don't want to overpay. I personally switched to all SSDs few years ago and I appreciate that, but what seemed plenty to be back then, now is simply not enough. It's as if game devs do anything to price people out of market. First victim were GPUs, now it's becoming SSDs and soon that will be CPUs. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they annoy too big user base and they will start to seriously demand devs to make something that fits on their computers and doesn't require tithe to Jensen or Lisa to make that shit to run. After all, more than anything that matters in games is entertainment, good gameplay and something that a big mass of people would want to and could play on whatever conserve box they have. And in recent years, I only see many shitty rehashes or games, hardware requirements getting more and more ridiculous, frankly nothing fun to play and some fanboys turning into graphics whores. This has to stop.

As for FH5, it has no business being storage hog, if MS managed to fit whole FH2 on X360 and maybe 20GB, I see no reason why FH5 has to take up over 100GB of space. I played FH4 some months ago and in terms of car handling it felt exactly like FH2 or FH (which is bad, because compared to FM2, FM3 or FM4, it really sucks), car library is about same size, map size isn't significantly bigger and the whole game just feels like rehashed FH2 and then FH2 was already rehashed FH. It feels exactly like paying again and again for game that feels identical to the old one, but you get new setting and maybe slightly different car selection. Not even graphics are meaningfully upgraded and in 2021 they just look oddly poor and insubstantial for AAA games.

Does anyone know if it's possible to move a Steam version of FH4 from one drive to another? I have the Microsoft version and it's pretty much locked down which makes moving it from one drive to another, impossible. I'm not referring to moving an MS version to Steam or moving saves.
Or is the Steam version inherently linked to an MS account?

You can. I bought the Steam version also because of this and the ability to run it under Linux (mostly).

The game saves aren’t compatible even though you log in with your same MS account.

I did change my drive letters a short while ago, if that counts.

You can move the Windows version to another drive. If you go into the Apps and Features page in the Settings app, select FH4 e click the Move button (only appears on some Win Store apps). Sadly you cannot choose which drive it gets installed to, afaik. I think it might be a planned feature for the Xbox app, if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: I just checked and if you do install FH4 through the Xbox app, it lets you choose which drive you want to install it on.

Yes, you can move XBox games through settings on a current install, but not on a new Windows install when the games are sitting on another drive. You have to download the games all over again, in my experience anyway.

Man, FH5 is not cheap. 69,99€ for the standard version, 89,99€ for the deluxe and 99,99€ for the premium is rough. The deluxe is pretty much useless at just 10€ less than the premium and no expansions, plus other minor stuff. I was thinking of pre-ordering so I'd complete all the seasons starting from the beginning, but 100€ is steep.
I just opened up Steam and the standard and deluxe editions are 10€ cheaper over there. Weird. Anyone here with the Steam version of FH knows if there's any difference between the Xbox/Windows Store version?

Ah, yeah. That is unfortunate. I don't know of any way to get it to recognize an install folder.

I will probably end up pre-ordering the premium as well. Although very expensive, it's also a game that you play for a long time, so the €/hour is not so bad. Will you be getting the Xbox or Steam version?

I got FH4 Ultimate for 59,99€ on the Windows Store, which was pretty nice.

If I’m correct FH5 actually doesn’t feature ray tracing except in ‘carvista’ where you walk around the car in a showroom. It was implied the next forza Motorsport, featuring a new engine, will have the in-world ray tracing.

You can play FH4 offline, just create a private session. From what I’ve seen so far, I don’t think FH5 will launch with that feature. It may come later, dunno.

Also, the Series 1 events and rewards were announced in the October Forza monthly.
