Forza Horizon 5: DLAA vs. DLSS vs. FSR 2.2 Comparison

at no point do you have to touch these settings at all, you get angered by the fact optional settings exist?

not angered, just frustrated. because I want the best gaming experience my hardware will give me, but I find so many options to be overwhelming. similar to when I go to the grocery store and there are 50 breads to choose from...

I don't think i'll ever understand that.

I'm on autism spectrum, I get overloaded sometimes from various things. Sometimes it can be because there are too many people talking, or too many things to choose from, etc. It's annoying, but it has gotten easier as I have gotten older. I wear muffled earphones when I use the vacuum cleaner in the house for example, most people probably don't do that I am guessing.

Even console now offer multiple settings for visual vs FPS, so you will have to find the optimum settings for your own gaming experience.

But you seem to like higher FPS as you have mentioned many times now, but now you get frustrated with additional options to improve FPS?

well to be completely fair to DLSS and FSR, I actually haven't had the chance to try them yet. so maybe its not so complicated, and I won't be frustrated. I read for DLSS3 though you can't just turn on DLSS3 sometimes you have to turn on other things like something called frame generation, etc? Also, how many people know to cap their fps 3 under max refresh rate and leave vsync off, and so on and so forth. there are just loads of little tidbits, eventually you have to have some nostalgia for just the playstation 2 days 90% of games didn't have a patch, plug and play. i kind of miss that.

TPU is the perfect place for you to save time finding out the perfect combinations of settings, tidbits, etc...to get the best out of your hardwares, all you gotta do is ask :)

Okay that I get.

I've got ADHD so I just research what i want before i even leave, therefore zero distractions and no choices need to be made

I have tried that (see below). Crickets. Another one of the fifty settings... which is optimal...

Well like I said it has gotten easier as I have gotten older. I also make lists now before I leave. It helps a lot and I research what aisle something is on before i go. easy to do just go to the store site and type in item you want and tells you what aisle its in. :D

TAA in most cases sucks!
Foe example in Red Dead Redemption 2 TAA was too blurry , when dlss came visuals got a massive upgrade, sharp , alias free , and also a boost to perfomance ...

In forza i dont use TAA but rather the more visual efficient msaa (8x) because i eant my games crispy and clear to watch.
By the way msaa in forza is not that demanding
1440p , 2070 super , 10700k

TAA depends on the game, and most games I use it with look massively better, at 4K and 1440p

Still images are fine but what's this ghost with DLSS?

Edit.
Watch that blue Porsche in front of the red car, it's leaving black smeary trail behind and it's not tire tracks.

Can the tires leave skidmarks in the game?

It's not something I can identify without it being from a video

Anyone else think it's impressive that FSR is doing this kn an Nvidia GPU?

This is a skidmark:

This looks like DLSS FSR ghosting from not handling motion vectors right:

It looks exactly the same like the artifacts from Death Stranding with the black particle emitters

Both DLSS and FSR break when you get in the Jesko and do 500kmhr. Kind of reminds me of the old divx encoding, horrible lol

Watch the video again, that is FSR, not DLSS.
My bad, too much on my mind today. Still, it just shows that you can't compare still images.

I wish there were some MSAA comparison shots. MSAA and FXAA (bleh) were the original AA options available at launch. I run with 4x MSAA because I find TAA to be too blurry.

Resolution?
No AA method is perfect. I used MSAA 2x before TAA, I dont find it too blurry at UHD and I find the temporal thing an improvement over MSAA. Everyone may prefer different things.

@maxus24
Why does the pole for the power lines look worse the higher the resolutions go with DLSS Quality? Are the pictures labeled correctly?
I noticed much more resolve at 1080p compared to 4K on the structure of the power pole, the aliasing is also worse on the back of the car.

MSAA is the only AA that handles power lines well in my experience in this game but it has it's own issues. DLAA and TAA perform the same for me maxed out with extreme RT and honestly look roughly the same. Neither has any impact on latency. I think I'll stick with DLAA personally.

I think for me I will just keep playing all my games at native 1440p. no dlss or fsr. keep it classy. 4xMSAA, some settings very high, others that are taxing like shadows only on high. and away I go.

its how i have always played my games, and i think i will just continue to do so. this fancy tech is nice and all, but its really getting annoying having to keep up which game i should use it in which shouldn't i, or don't forget to enable these 3 other settings when you enable this! its maddening. no thank you.
I hope you never enter the rabbit whole of HDR gaming on Windows. That's the ultimate madness.

I have tried it in the past, HDR is only worthwhile if you have OLED screen, if you don't have OLED don't use HDR. It's really that simple.

Sure, OLED is required for the best experience. The annoying part is configuring different Windows calibration profiles, games sliders and TV settings for every different game. It's not a simple universal thing as you try to say. Not even close.

If you went the on toggle route and called it a day, you had the worst HDR experience because windows is not HDR friendly as consoles.
