can anyone suggest an mp3 editor?

I have a flac to mp3 editor but I want to cut and add gain to some songs I ripped.

audacity is not an option.

On a quick look, AudioMass seems to be capable enough. It runs in the browser but it's a standalone program, not depending on network connection or any cloud$.

If you search the web, I think it's better to look for "audio editor". MP3 editor implies metadata (ID3) editor because that's the only thing that can be edited in a MP3 file directly, without conversion to a lossless format and back.

Why not? If the new owners are your worry (I know there is somewhat legit worry around that), look into it's forked brother, Tenacity.

FLAC to mp3 editor? Do you want an editor or a format converter? If you want a format converter, try fre:ac

It is capable of doing these minor adjustments like volume boosting on the converted file. If you want an editor then what you want is Audacity or you're paying for Sound Forge.

I don't know of one specifically that can meet your needs, but I typically reference fosshub dot com for Foss applications if web searches were lack luster. Another useful method is using the following syntax to do a web search per site such as:

Site:github.com mp3 editor

You can also use a wildcard, example searching for a job:

Site:jobs.*.com facilities custodian

@kilo thanks. exactly what I need. efficient simple and SMALL. I love small programs that are simple and to the point. I have a converter from flac.

I simply needed to cut some songs down. some songs have too much "intro" till they get into the good meat of it.

dont trust it anymore. and not really needed. as I wrote above. I have a small free one. does exactly what i needed from it. crop and slight tuning.

Thats fair. Why get a swiss army knife when a single purpose tool is available? Good find.

I really try and go out of my way to get the smallest programs that does just what I need and no extras. over the recent years many programs have gotten so large and I simply dont trust what they put in it. aand im tired in trying to research if theyre all legit or not. most of the stuff in it are features I dont need. and when something is not even close to a MB, it does the job. I love foss programs

On my lg v20 phone (I collect many used lg phones) I have most rooted and UBL and I only use foss apps from fdroid. no google store.

I respect that. I don't worry so much about disk space but there is a logic to what you are saying about why use more than you need.
