Processor AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
Motherboard ASUS M4N82 Deluxe nVidia 980a SLI ATX Motherboard
Cooling 3x230mm, 1x120mm, Optional: 3x Scythe S-Flex SFF21G 120mm ...ZALMAN CNPS 10X Extreme CPU Cooler
Memory Corsair Dominator CM2X2048-8500C5D Dual Channel [5-5-5-15-22-2T-2.1v]
Video Card(s) EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit
Storage SATA WD 300GB Velociraptor, SATA WD 1TB Caviar Black
Display(s) ViewSonic G90FB Black 19" CRT Monitor
Case Coolermaster ATCS 840 Full Tower Case
Audio Device(s) Onboard (8 channel)
Power Supply PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (Black) EPS12V 750W
Software Windows XP Pro w/SP3....ASUS AMI 0802 BIOS
Benchmark Scores CPU: 3.8Ghz @ 1.425vcore
Bunk 5000 BE:
ADO5000IAA5DS
NAA9G 0746DPOW.....this one was baaaaddddddd! 3.0ghz at 1.35 and nuthin over that

new 5000 BE:
ADO5000IAA5DS
NAA9G 0805FPCW.....this one 16x multi, 1.4vcore boot right into windows no problem

Besides the bolded CPU numbers..I noticed another MAJOR difference! In Everest Ultimate Edition ver. 4.20.1294.0 ......................on the bunk 5000 the CPU Core #1 and Core #2, I saw temp differences of 10-15C............on the GOOD 5000 I see a max difference in Core#1 and Core#2 temperatures of no more than 3C !! [I noticed this difference in the Core #1 and Core #2 temps BEFORE any over clocking was attempted.] So for all you overclockers who would LIKE to RMA bunk 5000's......BEFORE you overclock....check the Core #1 and Core #2 differences.....because once you overclock them at all....you VOID the warranty and the RMA process. THAT seems to be the most telling thing I've found so far.

This new 5000.....set 16x multi and 1.4vcore and it booted right into windows no problems.
On the BUNK 5000...set 16x multi and 1.4 vcore and BSOD so hard, its fortunate I have a crash free BIOS !

If I notice any other differences that would tell us BEFORE we overclock...if we had a good overcloking 5000 BE....I'll post them here.

I'm not sure if the serial number has anything to do with the bad chip. I think it's just a bad chip.:)

* A 10-15 degree difference between cores is not good, and easily a reason for RMA.

There are lots of bad Brisbanes out there with broken internal diodes. 17C/14C diode temp under full load in a room at 26C?

Yes I had one...BUT the beauty of this is.....EVEREST can tell you BEFORE (you OC and void the warranty) if you got a good or bad 5000 Black edition :) maybe you all already knew this but....noone told me -.-

Since I couldn't get a correct reading I didn't put that thing in my overclocking board. just overclocked a tad and left it in the media pc.

Is the Everest edition Full retail version or trial version? Sometimes if its trial version it doesn't display correct. Try Core temp, A64assistant or coretemeter. They read directly from the diode.

it the full er,...cr**ked version :)
but even the 4.20 trial version showed same differences in core temps and that seems to be what was causing my vcore-wall problem....up to 3.0ghz no sweat Orthos priority 9 BLEND all day ...rock stable.....but whenever i tried for 3.2gha I had to use huge vcores like 1.55v and it still failed Orthos

The most telling part was that the orginal (diff core temps) 5000 wouldn't even boot into windows with 16x multi and 1.4-1.45vcore like everyone elses. This new one with no more than 3C core temps difference....BAM! 16x multi 1.4vcore boot fine.

and I know it aint the serial number duh ???

Hey GHOT i read some of ur's posts ona few forums about 5000+BE OC on m2n32sli deluxe wifi,i have same MoBo but i have diferrent ram(geil 2*2gb black dragon CL5).I have same problems like u in OCing my 5000+BE to 3.2G.But i have CAA9G 0746epmw ver(build) of cpu.I managed to OC it to 3.18G like 205*15.5(1.4V)...But like u i want my ram not work on 795MHz,i want it to work on stock 800MHz.Cen u telll me if this cpu ver.(build) are new or bunk ver. because first part isnt NAA9G but last part is like at bunk ver 0746EPMW???
Diferecne in everest in core temps are max 4'C,on 3.18G orthos works 2hrs stabile no problems(i terrminted him after 2 hrs:D).
