I have no interest in mobile phone games so I don't keep up with them but the below article surprised me at the money people are spending on some of these phone games. Apparently Machine Zone is raking in over $1 million dollars a day on this game. There are reports that some are spending thousands of dollars on micro transactions on this game. I wouldn't have even been aware of this game except the below article which is mostly about some crazy head that embezzled 5 million dollars from his company and spent 1 million dollars of it on Game of War micro transactions. Incredible.

I was aware of its existence, because they advertise on TV quite often on a certain set of Freeview channels. They mainly advertise with boobs and very little actual gameplay footage, but as far as I'm aware their main point of income is through selling consumable style stuff instead of persistent digital goods. A la, you can buy cannon fodder solders that will fight and die with real money. It is quite literally a Pay2Win title, since you can pay an infinite amount of money to have a larger force than your opponent. Since it's P2W, they have an absurdly skewed ratio of casual/whale players for a mobile game.

If you want to make a quick buck, mobile games and advertising is where its at. People are stupid with their money and either don't realize they are spending it on these stupid things or don't care (for various reasons).

Same here, I do not play games on my phone. My wife is hooked on Candy Crush, but to spend that kind of money on a mobile phone game is just insane.
