I have purchased recently the new GeCube HD4870 and i tried to install it in my new PC. I have used the Catalyst 8.6 Hotfix. The problem is that every time i tried to play a game (COD4 or Grid or GOW), the screen freezes, but without any BSOD. After some re-installs of the drivers, without any success, i decided to format my Vista 32bit and install everything from scratch. Now i can run successfully both 3DMark06 and Vantage, but again when i tried to play a game, same thing happens.
Some people told that maybe there is an incompatibility with the motherboard, which is of course weird, because it is a CrossFire one and it suppose to work with ATI products. I am not sure if that is the case, but i have tried the graphic card and the PSU to the other two PC's that i have, one with the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 mobo and the other with the ASUS P5N-E SLI nForce650i mobo and everything worked fine (both games and benchmarks). So, i assume that neither the card or the PSU have hardware malfunction.
So, i am asking, does anyone else have similar problems with the combination of the card + the mobo and is there any solution to my problem?
Thank you
