The fan is an old corsair ML120 - It has static pressure for days so resistance is less of an issue.

The idea was to make a duct that would direct more air towards the back of the case and in theory feed more cool air to the GPu and the SSD there which is just being passive aggressive and hiding in plain sight.

It still works in its current form.

No. Primer is used to act as interposer layer given the desired paint something to stick to. Paint doesn't need any help sticking to cardboard as it is a semi-porous surface.

Yup, but it looks good. Nicely done! Peel those Amazon labels off and paint away. You'll have a very decent bit of handmade kit!

Little update.. the fans are strong, and the tape had no chance

I just peeled it off and went back to air cooling..

Metal tape. I promise, it'll work very well for your project need.

How thick are the sidewalls if they're not 2~3mm you may be very disappointed in the sound you get if your expecting any sort of descent bass response otherwise it's going to sound tiny as hell like in the video unless you also plan on putting in a bass port

Yes it will have a bass port and the inside will be covered with wood or mat, I don´t know yet, I have it tought out

You don't need to go to that level of extreme. A 3/4' plywood box, properly built, will give every satisfaction.

I'm waiting for my Adams 5 year warranty period expiration to do the concrete mod. But unlike most of the modders doing a concrete layer just at the front side (where the plastic is the weakest acoustic point obviously), I'll do all the sides. Because MDF panels are shitty as well IMO.

Pretty sure this counts as a "ghetto mod." The GD09 case was positive pressure - 2 in,1 out - but now is 100% intake with Noctua Industrials, with passive exhaust.

The GD09 has 2 fans on that side (and one on the other), but the forward fan is partially blocked by the ODD tray. I wanted to accomplish two things - increase the amount of fresh air at the other end of the heatsink, and prevent the fan from blowing the heatsink exhaust back into the rest of the case. I initially used a 3x5 index card and some tape to deflect the air toward the front.

I know it's tight, and it inhibits some airflow, but those are Noctua Industrial 140s, so there's static pressure to spare.

I eventually used a piece of plastic flower pot cut to shape to better isolate the flow of air.

If you look at the far right, you can see that I had also sealed off that side, essentially creating a dedicated duct for the CPU exhaust. It's been a while, but IIRC, I eventually slid that panel back a couple of inches to more fully block any potential heat from the GPU from entering the CPU heatsink, and to allow GPU heat to flow out the rear with the rest.

Today's kinda ghetto mod involves a 2008 Dell laptop that a family member will not part with. To replace the CMOS battery you have to completely disassemble the system and pull the motherboard. I've done that a few times over the years and got tired of it. So I got a CR2032 battery holder, soldered it to the Dell CMOS battery wiring harness, and installed the battery holder in the HDD compartment. NO more having to disassemble the laptop to service the CMOS battery anymore!

What's really amazing is this machine has a large service compartment for access to the CPU, memory, and wifi card right next to the hard drive compartment, yet Dell still put the CMOS battery on the rear of the motherboard so the machine has to be disassembled lol. Planned obsolescence at it's best, as that CMOS battery could have easily been located on the motherboard as to be in the service compartment. Here's a screenshot I grabbed of a similar Dell.....

Yet an older 2006 era Dell like the Latitude D520/D530 has an actual CR2032 button cell holder right in the wifi card compartment (https://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Latitude-D520/access-internal-memory-module-02.jpg). It's tiring seeing how most modern laptops usually have a proprietary CMOS battery that is most likely very hard to access. I spend way too much time disassembling people's older but modern laptops specifically just to deal with dead CMOS batteries!!!!!

I don't know if this counts as a mod, but my cheap air cooler for bench testing wouldn't clip to the mount so i used a bottle of alcohol to hold it down and apply some pressure.

Friend said it would be fine as long as i don't have a cat ...

I have the same one What was your intent here? I’ve actually ordered a new ASUS extender my Mesh is ASUS and the Mi App is pretty awful especially compared to the ASUS app(can’t believe I‘m praising an ASUS app) it’s out of stock so no idea when it will come
