Audigy SE has no DSP hardware. It's all software based. No different than CMedia. I will give you that it's still better than the typical realtek garbage.

Have to agree with this. I recently had to upgrade my PCI X-fi Music to a PCI-E X-fi and there was about a day or two with no soundcard so I had to use the realtek onboard that comes on my Asus P6T Deluxe V2 and the difference is noticeable. Now I don't consider my speakers highend but they are good enough that I noticed a difference.

Onboard sound is still not good enough for me. However if you are going out to a A/V Receiver it maybe be different.
