bought a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with a rebate and it won't post. Everything is plugged in right, heatsink is extremely firm on the CPU, I turn it on and the four colorful lights come on next to the RAM and then nothing ever happens. The lights stay on and the computer just sits there. Anyone have any suggestions?

sounds like it could be earthed with the case.... strip everything out and 'dry' test it outside of the case to check that its working before putting it back in.

If it doesnt boot up while outside of the case, then you have a faulty mobo and you need to return it to where you got it from for another one or a refund.

Try booting it with just 1 stick of RAM?

Try to boot the system with just the basics installed/attached.

Might be a faulty mobo?

What's something safe to sit it on if 'dry' run it?

I usually just use a thick catalogue of some sort. some stacked up newspapers is also fine

how about cardboard, like the motherboard case?

Got it all out, even the power supply, sitting on the box. It's doing the same thing. I took the heatsink of the CPU and turned it on for about four seconds and the CPU got hot, so I know it's getting power. It's just not getting past that.

sounds like a dead board, not surprising gigabytes QC is crap
