I say wait until GOWIII is actually out before having a PS3 affair. Its not worth buying a PS3 just for the remastered versions of a game you already have on PS2.

I'll definitively pick this one up since my PS2 died ;[ Can't wait for God of War III...I still have to pick up Uncharted 2...once I'm done with Dragon Age: Origins and Demon's Souls (best PS3 game if you ask me, and one of the best RPG out there. It's freaking hard, and I mean HARD, but each time you die you just want more)...and then there's gonna be Dante's Inferno.

My wallet is crying just thinking about it.

I said out of games I have played. Honestly, most PC games are not gods gift to man in the graphics department, what I find most noticeable in PC games over consoles is view distance, and other tweaks, games like Fight Night and what I just seen in God of War really I havent seen that man detailed characters on a ton of PC games, its better than most.

But yeah if you want to utterly destroy poor fools, rip them limb from limb and watch their blood spurt everywhere, GOW III is your best bet

I think they look better on the PS3 but the color saturation sucks, there is hardly any contrast (could be there tv settings though)

yea i think it is the tv settings. looks like the gamma is turned up to high. but i really cany tell any difference with the textures. i will have to see it in person.

They are, they didn't retexture anything, just bumped the game to true HD, says that in that link.

Got to agree, seems they had their gamma cranked on the PS3 for some reason, but it does look noticably better to me, I can't wait to play these games! :rockout:

This just proves that the ps3 can actually run ps2 games concidering they left everything in tact and just added 2xAA and smoother textures.

The only thing i notice that is really worth mentioning is the AA.

The 1st gen 80gb PS3's didn't have the emotion chip, I had one of those and I never ran across a PS2/PS1 game that I could not play. So it was done with software, why that wasn't continued is kind of strange as the PS3 can easily do it I'm sure.

Yeah 1st gen had chips second gen was software emulated and 3rd gen was nothing.

Doesn't really matter though the Cell is and should be fully capable of minipulating the emotion engine (as even seen in the Patient specs sheet for ps2 emulation on ps3)
God of war just proves this even further. I personally think the only reason for this is the ps2 still sells decent enough to call it it's own platform and sony just sees dollars and cents.

i was told and read that the first gen did indeed have the emotion chip, which is hardware based, while the second gen is software emulation based.

The 60GB and 20GB are Gen 1's. The 80GB and 40GB (came boxed with Motorstorm) are Gen 2. But then there is a 3rd gen of 80's (came boxed with MGS4) that don't have software emulation, so the 1st gen/run of 80GB's can play PS2 games through software emulation, hence 1st gen 80GB (which is actually a 2nd gen PS3).
