The 1800 can do HDR and AA at the same time the GTO can not, and the X1800 also has Avivo.
I know I have it but it still dont look as good as the GTO IMO, I only say that because for example in oblivion or any other graphic intensive game I have for that matter, at resolutions ABOVE 1280 x 1024 I cannot have both enabled and have the game on max settings with smooth framerates because the card wont quite handle it, so I drop it down a little, with the GTO without HDR but on higher settings it looks better, for me the HDR is not as important as the overall graphics quality...just a personal choice, am not suggesting anyone else would feel the same way.
However your points are the very reason why under normal circumstances I prefer ATi, generally I prefer the package ATi offers, was just VERY surprised with the GTO for the price. On my old monitor at 1280 x 1024 the 1800 did look better TBH.
