I liked it.. I got it for free though. I've avoided the series since the first two, since they're all basically the same.. but it stood out enough for me.

Titanfall 2, haven't played it personally but almost everyone I asked told me they were impressed, even with the story.

Far Cry 5 is like Far Cry 4 which is like Far Cry 3. So if you like playing the same game with different storylines and graphics, then ok.

Now the good ones:
Doom, Shadow Warrior 2, BF4, Bioshock Infinite, Fallout 4 (it is not exactly just an FPS though), Metro Last Light, Alien Isolation (also not just an FPS but its great).

Indeed. There was going to be a sequel, but I've not heard a thing for years, so presumably it's been canned.

I've always loved FPS, but I was struggling to think of a single title that I really liked in the last 5 years. Perhaps the Metro remastered series.

Ok, I know that these are old, but any version of Unreal Tournament is epic.

They're pretty cheap on www.gog.com and Steam, too.

That's a hard question. There were lots in the past 5 years.
My list would include at least these:
- Bioshock Infinite
- Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Old Blood
- Alien: Isolation
- Both Metro 2033 games
- All Borderlands games
- RAGE
- DOOM
- Black Mesa (HL1 community remake, if you haven't played it already)
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I'd skip Mankind Divided, cause honestly it's total garbage. I'm playing it right now and I find nothing but facepalms and frustration in it...
- Crysis 3 for sure

Not a big fan of Farcry series, but those aren't bad either (just not to my taste).

These are on my wishlist:
- Prey
- Resident Evil 7
- Dishonored 2

If you like old-school shooters, then you may also try Strafe and Amid Evil - those are awesome nostalgic shoot'em'alls.
If you are a fan of the original Quake, DOOM, Heretic or Hexen, then those two are definitely for you.

+1 to Titanfall 2, my son and I really enjoy this one!

Doom 2016, Crysis 3, and I'm sure many others. I don't really have a whole lot to add...I fell outta the FPS genre and don't come back often. I still install CoD4 from time-to-time to relive the campaign, but it isn't nearly as cool as it was in 2007!

Also another notable mention is Angels Fall First, if you want something like BF2142 with space ships/combat, boarding, ground combat, etc. The bot AI is pretty good too if you want to be more SP focused. I don't know if they're planning a campaign or not...but have heard it mentioned before a time or two. It is a slow development, but solid offering so far.

Almost forgot: Hard Reset Redux is on sale right now. Just bought it for like $1. The original one was buggy, but it seems like they've revamped the whole thing in Redux (82% positive reviews).
Been putting that one on a backburner for a while now, I guess it's time to play some )))
