AC7 and the lack of HOTAS support is very well known and has been something which has been plaguing users since day one. It's annoying as hell and I've completed the game using a Joypad (xbox1) but honestly, it was meh, I bought it to use my HOTAS and was very very disappointed.

I think for Jet games you're limited,

AC series (no HOTAS)
Hawx series, work fine with the X52 series of sticks, I have both
Cliffs of dover, you may be able to do, it's not full sim but it's closer to sim.

Other than that, I know it's mostly Prop but Warthunder is very good, Although best using mouse aim than X52.

I wanted to like Wings of Prey, I did, and still do. I install once a year, and for me, it feels like I need a pilot’s license or an engineering degree to fly. It’s always an uninstall after an hour of torture.
I don't like it, i got it really cheap, because i wanted a flight game with a story. Uninstalled it after about 2 hours.
I grew up with games like DiD Total Air War or Su-27 toghether with Enemy Engaged Comanche vs Hokum. To this day nobody made a flight sim with a story and/or a dynamic campaign. You can either have a story and arcade flight physics or sim like physics and no story or campaign.

One to keep an eye on and mess around with is Project Wingman. Meant to be more arcade than sim...I hadn't checked it out in some time. It's a slowly developed indie game too... so it maybe lacking in many areas. I haven't had a chance to check it out in some time. Figured I'd at least share it.

It is pretty much a poor mans Ace Combat clone right down to the "special weapon" names. But it looks good for what it is. A few years back I urged the guy behind it to make it something more than a low budget AC clone. Guy is clearly passionate about his project and answered to my many long suggestions/questions via email. Looks like having multiple special weapons was finally added which is something I was hoping for.

Overall it looks good because there is nothing else out there aside from AC7 and I wish him and the new contributors success. I'll certainly play it when it comes out.
