i wonder if its possible to unlock the pipes from like 8 to at least 12.. if so then ill buy it... i need an answer before friday as the rma is aready issued.. any suggestions would be appreciated..

btw.. i have to shop at www.tigerdirect.com and i need pcie card . best one that is overclockable for under 150 bucks. someone please help me decide as i made a mistake last time with these guys..

nVidia is not stupid, 90%+ of their cards are laser cutted and will never unlock.:shadedshu
Or they can be unlocked but die as soon as you do it.
 
while thats the best of the 6800xt's, the fact that ive seen a few reviews where theyve barely outperformed a 9800pro would tell me to steer clear

isnt there any 7600gt's for that price?, theyre FAR superior
 
nVidia cards with the XT naming is plain crap. (It is truly F**King crippled)

Ati kind of do that too by naming the lowest grade card in a series with GT. (But the X1900GT is certainly not crap)

A X1650Pro with DDR2 will vaporize that "6800"

preference though

I dont care what brand, make or model it is. im lookin for a card that can be unlocked and it has to have at least 256-bit memory ddr3 for around 150 on tiger direct. by friday

well then its crippled

only8 pipes. i think its not unlockable either. dont know if that will make the 256-bit mem worthless then if not 12 pipes.
 
7900 GS screems for that price.

It also has 20 pixel pipes (not 8)

x1900gt STOMPS anything else in its price range (179)

those are my advice, if u can manage the 1900gt you will be AMAZED at the perf diffrance between a gt/gto 800 card and x1900gt 12pipes 36shader units=newer games wont be crippled at all :D

im good for a loan to get that 1900gt so that sounds fine to me. 12 pipes, 256bit 256ddr3 over 500core and over 500mem. good deal to me. i go thru tigerdirects corporate cause im a partner. i should get a better deal than 179 bucks. hopefully a good margin or whatever. and yes it will spank my gecuber junk x800 ddr2 128 bit lol.....:nutkick:

for $130 you could get the 7900GS, that has 256 bit mem bus, DDR3, 20 pixel pipes.

The 7900GS provides good performance, but the fact that its imperfection drives me away from Geforce 7.
