GPU Benchmark

Hi all,

I just got a new RTX 3070, so I want to do some objective Benchmark to test whether my card meets the expected performance (to see whether it is defective). I am aware there are established CPU benchmarks (Geekbench, Cinebench, etc.). Are there any established GPU Benchmarks like that?

Also, I used to think that GPU benchmarks are basically running graphically demanding games at max setting and observing the framerate, is that right? If so, what should I do to get the most objective test result? (e.g. what games should I run, under what settings and what conditions, etc.)

Thanks a lot,
Cheers

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
Unigine Superposition is a shorter, smaller test that gives good indication of performance too:

The default 1080p Extreme preset should give you a score of somewhere around 8300 points with a 3070
The 4K Optimised preset should be around 10700 points. It renders at 4K internally even if you don't have a 4K monitor, so the end result is still valid even if you run the test with a 1080p monitor.

Got it, I will run that test too. In my research I also read heaven's benchmark to be popular. However, I haven't found a leaderboard of sort that would allow me to compare my score with others. Do you know where to compare my score to the average score (so that I know whether my score is normal)?

I see 3DMark website already has average score of graphics cards posted. Where should I find similar things for the Superposition and Heavens benchmark?

Thanks

By the way, I just ran the superposition benchmark. My 1080 extreme score is 8788, and my 4k score is 11226. I ran both tests with DriectX as the Graphics API. Would it make a difference if I had used OpenGL instead?

I would say not as your scores are higher than what he said are average, so I would say you are not experiencing any performance issues due to your results.

Does it matter whether my score is from DirectX or OpenGL API? Because my directX score is higher than the average, but my OpenGL score is lower

Nope, CPU will have almost no effect.

Your 2085MHz is a 21% overclock so I'd expect at least a 10% higher score than the reference clocks.

Just google for a review of the card and add +superposition or +heaven
