I put together a new build, and bought a second hand GPU that was an upgrade model than the one in my old system. It's a Sapphire Pulse RX 5700 XT. The motherboard is an Asus Rog Strix B500 XE and the OS is Windows 11 Pro. The BIOS is the very newest, 3607. The CPU is an AMD Ryzen 7 5600G ( has integrated graphics).
This GPU isn't functioning. As the system is being booted, the GPU fans spin, but as soon as the system posts, the fans completely stop. When entering the BIOS, the fans will remain on for as long as I'm in the BIOS.
The RX 5700 XT is identified in Device Manager and says it's working properly. It's also identified in GPU-Z but when in Task Manager or AMD's Adrenaline software, it's not identified and only the integrated graphics are being used. I tried switching priority in the BIOS from the integrated graphics to PCIe graphics but that doesn't help. After going back into the BIOS, the BIOS changes the order back to allowing the integrated graphics to be primary.
I thought maybe there was a power issue as the original PSU I used was the one from my old system. It was older and 600 watts. I bought a new 750 watt PSU but that also didn't help. I also tried installing the GPU in another PCIe slot. That didn't help. I've tried different drivers. That didn't help.
Considering I tried this GPU in two different PCIe slots on a new motherboard, I'm thinking either the GPU is hosed, there's some kind of driver issue, or possibly something weird within Windows 11 that I'm just not aware of.
For what it's worth, the second hand eBay GPU looked like it was new when I received it. No signs at all of someone trying to polish a turd. I mean not even slight scratches where the GPU screw to the rear case panel.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I would interested in hearing them and it would be appreciated.
