GPU cooler

I was looking at getting a new gpu cooler for my gecube x800SE, because my current one is whining, any good suggestions?
i already bought a arctic cooling silencer that doesnt fit and i cant return. my card is badged as an x800GT but it is really an x800SE so it wouldn't fit. i am looking at the zalman vf700 alcu, does anyone know if this is good or not?

My current stock hsf has heatpipes, and it is currently idling at 30c, ambient 17c, i definitely want lower or the same as that, not higher. remember x800 SE
im not even sure if its an x800gt or x800se..lil help here, omega drivers pick up as x800se while ati drivers pick up as x800se... look

The Vf700 or Vf900 are pretty good coolers, and fit on a whole range of cards. They are just as good as the Arctic cooler if you have good airflow and memory heatsinks. The only advantage to the Arctic cooler is that it blows hot air out the back of the case. This isnt a problem if you already have good airflow .

well i reckon i got pretty good airflow, do you reckon the vf700 alcu will beat my stock cooler?

The VF700ALCU even though it is an excellent cooler, works better at higher heat loads, however if its the noise that you are worried about, I would buy it asap. It is cheap... so I dont know why you wouldnt buy it.

VF700CU would be a better choice imho...

well i dont think cu and alcu has a great difference, and i'm still leaning towards alcu because it matches my cpu s700b alcu

The cu is better, but for an X800GT/SE, it wont make much of a difference.

Yea thats the point , if its going to perform pretty much the same, i might as well get the alcu because its cheaper and it also matches my cpu.
Also btw does anyone have the same graphics card.

bump, does anyone know if it will fit without any modification, because x800gt is not listed as a compatible card.
