GPU - Flashed wrong VBIOS now one of the fans doesn't works

Hi. Around 10 days ago I bought a Dell 3060 Ti (HP OEM).

It didn't have support to Resizable Bar so I followed a youtube video and installed an update that enabled it. Resizable Bar worked but I notice the GPU was getting over 80º C/176º F easily.

And yes, I checked my fan curve and is set to go 100% when it reaches 80º C/176 F.

I opened the case to take a look and notice one of the fans wasn't spinning. I know the fan isn't broken because in Windows safe mode both fans work just fine.

After a lot of research on google I figure out the problem was that the update I installed is from a PNY GPU; and since my GPU is from Dell, it just messed it.

I tried to flash a Dell VBIOS using Nvflash but got:
  • Adapter not accessible or supported EEPROM not found, skipping
  • ERROR: Detecting GPU failed.
Searching google I found this post with a similar problem:
https://linustechtips.com/topic/110...ipping-detecting-gpu-failed-expection-caught/

In short, I would have to use an accessory to reset the EEPROM directly or I would have to short the VBIOS. In both cases I would have to open the card and lose my warranty.

There's any way I could flash a dell VBIOS without losing my warranty?

You've already lost your warranty by flashing the VBIOS in the first place - which is never a good idea.

Do you have a backup of the original file?

No, I don't have a backup of the original.

I'm new to GPUs in general and I not even knew I was flashing a VBIOS. I just followed what the youtuber said.

These appear to be contradictory statements do you mean that you have otherwise sourced a Dell VBIOS that is not the original?
Yes, I got from here:

Are you located in the US? I know that there is a law stating that warranty cannot be voided by removing the fans/heatsink. IDK about flashing, but that ship already sailed.

If you take a GPU-Z screenshot, and a photo of the VRAM chips (close up) and the white sticker on the back, we can try to ensure the VBIOS is compatible. @eidairaman1 will link a guide to flash.

yikes, you will likely need to get a programmer and open the card.

Do you have any thermal paste to re paste the card?

No, I'm located in Brazil.

About the warranty; I bought the Card on Aliexpress (China) and as long I don't open it up (there's a stikcer in one of the pins at the back) I still will have the warranty.

For the photo of VRAM chips, I would have to open the card right?

I believe shorting the VBIOS may due work. I just did do it yet cause I don't want to lose my warranty... and because I don't have thermal paste.

Yes, unfortunately. Maybe a screenshot of the timing page under advanced (on GPU-Z)? It isn't as good as a physical validation, but it might work.

Send that back. Tell them it don't work. Nothing else. ;)
It ain't like Aliexpress never screwed anybody.

Ok, not finding the 'timing page', gonna check out on google. Just a moment.

Yeah, that's the plan.

I bought the card with a special feature were I can send the card back for no reason in the first 15 days.

But I bought the card in a sale and the prices went up a lot, I would rather keep it if possible.

I didn't find the timing page, the options under advanced tab are:

Where do I find the timing thing?

Thats a PNY GPU which has been considerably limited in core clock

Gonna check the links, thanks in advance!

Nearly finishing whatching the videos.

And it looks like you still don't have ReBAR working, which was the reason you flashed the card in the first place. A tip for the future: if something doesn't work on an OEM system (one built by a company), and you can't find any relevant option in the BIOS, there's probably a reason for it. Oh, and never ever try a VBIOS flash. The best it can do is nothing.

I finished and it didn't work... I gonna record a video to show whats going on.

Resizable Bar did work and about flashing a VBIOS, I didn't knew I was flashing it.

Was a .exe and I though was an official thing after look PNY site.

The youtuber said it was an update that would work with every card, so I just executed the .exe.

The video was recorded after I have tried the the steps in the links you provided. Once it fail I just reinstalled nvidia drivers and record a video just to show what was happening.

What I did:

Rebooted in safe mode (no internet)
Used DDU to uninstall the drivers
Rebooted in safe mode again just to be sure
Opened cmd as administrator
Went to nvflash folder

Video:

Guess I'll have to sent the card back and prey that another sale happens.

Use this video.

Use this video.

Tried; didn't work. Same problem as before.

I believe the problem is in the EEPROM; I think the PNY rom messed with it in some way.

If is really the EEPROM the only solution is short the VBIOS rigth?

No send the card back

Dont waste any more time on it

And buy Brand New in Box From Amazon, newegg, stay the hell away from ali express
