Hey guys got a small problem i think. I am using AtiTool 0.24 and i have noticed that it almost ALWAYS finds artifacts when i do an artifact scan in about 5-10 secs. I am running an asus radeon x850xtpe and i currently have it at default clock and memory speeds (no OC) so i do not know why it would be creating these artifacts. I have not had any problems while playing games, these artifacts only seem to appear on atitool? My question was whether you guys thought that this is some sort of compatability issue? or does my gpu really have a problem?

Quite possible a heat issue. The artifact finder creates alot of heat quickly in the GPU. When was the last time you cleaned out all the dust bunnies? Maybe the case needs some better airflow as well. Take the side off and get a big window box fan and blow it in there. If the artifacts go away, it is certainly a heat issue.

i do not believe it is a heat issue....i am checking my temps with atittool as it runs and it has not gone above 70c

beta version is even worse.....however when i go to oc and it does what i think is the same thing (shows the cube) it does not really find any errors, i noticed a few yellow blotches but it found no errors. is the fact that i saw blotches and it did not record an error ok, or is that just a bug in the beta version? Either way when it is in "find max" mode i get considerably less problems....im confused

some artefacts due to heat/overclocking are not always visible. sounds strange but i noticed in oblivion on some rare occasions long thick bar right across the screen, but they were only visible from certain locations. they vanished when i reduced the clock from 458 to 448 on my 800xl. so with higher average temperatures, maybe the cooler isnt up to the task ??
you might as well have some hotspots, if you applied the cooler yourself. anyway..
your card runs at top speed, so i guess its the cheap cooler :ohwell:

its possible that is the case (maybe i should invest in an arctic silencer or the like) i am now only using the retail cooler, however i am still slightly confused that atitool wouldnt be calculating higher temps at artifact creation if that was the case, i mean some of these artifacts are occurring at 50-60C according to atittool
