ahh damn the old currency conversion and different taxes.

EVGA 01G-P3-2632-KR GeForce GT 630 1GB 128-bit GDD...
62 dollars for a GT 630 with GDDR5. There is no way currency conversion losses and "different taxes" will cause a discrepancy that big. Nice try, but I'm calling shenanigans.

Prices of graphics cards with DDR3 memory are set to rise by 10-15 percent. The roughly 10 percent hike in prices of DDR3 memory chips, due to inventory-digestion, aided by reduced production from DRAM makers, is responsible for the hike. The June 2013 launch of Intel's Core "Haswell" platform could see a flurry of system upgrades, which could strain on DDR3 chip supply even further. Luckily for most DIY buyers, DDR3 memory is only used in sub-$100 graphics cards, with proliferation of GDDR5 to current-generation graphics cards around the $100 mark.

Anybody buying a DDR3 GPU these days needs their head examined TBH. If you're still using DDR3, stick with your on-board/on-die GPU.

The DDR3 kit price hike is not surprising. Was going to happen sooner or later. I suppose Haswell/Broadwell's 1150 socket mobos will be the first transition into DDR4 the same way socket 775's X38 platform transitioned to DDR3. I've got all the DDR3 kits I'll ever need now anyways. The next time I'll be upgrading will be for Skylake/Skymont and I'll settle for no less than 96GB DDR4 RAM.
