According to the description of NVIDIA's session for GDC 2023, we will finally get to see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

NVIDIA will be holding a session at GDC 2023 on March 23rd together with GSC Game World's 3D Animator, Anton Riabchuk, where it will give an exclusive look at S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.

While GSC Game World released a few screenshots as well as an official trailer for the game, GDC 2023 could be the perfect place to show an in-engine gameplay. The description of the GDC session also reveals that GSC Game World is working closely with NVIDIA and the session will also include an introduction to Omniverse Audio2Face AI SDK.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the fourth game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and is developed on Unreal Engine 5.

As GSC Game World is a Ukrainian developer, the development was pushed back due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, when the title was also changed to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The development has been moved to Prague, Czech Republic, so hopefully we will get a more precise release date soon.

According to the information, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is still scheduled to launch in 2023, and it will be coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Looking forward to it, hopefully it won't run like a$$.

Probably the only game that will be playable in 2023:rockout:

Look good!

Takes me back to when I first saw the original Stalker screenshots and got super hard-ons : )

'Gopnik' run to start (character name: Vadim) then maybe I'll think about shelling out to Sidrovich.

sidenote: I cannot wait for this game to utterly diminutize 'the crazy' surrounding Harry Potter and Atomic Heart. (if you don't know, don't ask.)

There's some real hope for this game though. They moved development to CZ, now they can actually get access to and shoot many of the firearms to be depicted in-game. +1 gun-nerd hype

As if they couldn't before? Some of the developers were involved in defense of their country while working on the game. Moving to CZ is mainly for their security. They probably still have some devs that are in active service.

Civilian access to small arms in former soviet states and most of the EU is highly restricted. Even if a 'multimedia studio' were given special dispensation (as 'Hollywood' gets), Ukraine doesn't have the same availability and culture surrounding small arms that the Czech Republic has largely managed to hang onto. STALKER's setting implicitly has a large variety of weapons across many decades, including really cool 'in-universe' takes on now-rare 'dead design' guns and how they showed up in The Zone. (Protecta/Steet Sweeper, for instance).
Variety of arms is not something often seen in militaries, unless you're India. Their poor logistics train....

(At least in The States), 'military experience' and 'firearms knowledge' are often about as far apart from each other as you could possibly imagine. The exceptions usually are those that had a job maintaining multiple weapons systems or were gun nerds before they enlisted. (even strictly 'armorers' may not know beyond what they were taught, due to lack of enthusiasm for the field).
MANY of the world-rounds' 'gun myths' and utterly inaccurate 'tales' have been started and/or propagated amongst military men since the introduction of the musket. Nothing against soldiers; you see the same 'urban legends' and 'inaccurate facts' spread about in just about any profession. It's probably is an entire anthropoligcal field of study, by itself.
If you're a fan of firearms history at all, there's many instances of this, even in WWI historical documents. My favorite is how miffed the Imperial Germans got in WWI when the 12GA shotgun was fielded, and then how the US Press 'took off' with the story. Yet, there were never a large number issued, and there were real practical issues with the guns and ammo in the trenches. All-involved were all too happy to make a Big Fish tale out of it.

No offense meant towards you or your country, and no disrespect meant towards any Soldier.
non-Americans typically cannot fathom the extraordinary variety (and quantity) of small arms we own, researched, or even built entirely (and uniquely) from scratch. [there better be 3D printed guns that find there way into The Zone, lol]
USA private citizens are known to own more small arms, than all the rest of the world's militaries, combined. (and, AFAIK CZ is a distant 2nd place)

Wasnt the guy running this show such a crook/asshole, the previous devs left to form 4A games?

I want to say that there's been a 'recovery and re-organization' since then, Then again GSC was one of the companies to try and pull 'the NFT BS'. So, you're probably right.

I remember the original STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl (yes there was an 'e' in place of the 'o' back then) endured a long, convoluted development process, with new features being announced and the release dates being endlessly delayed because of it.
I'd also heard the original owner(?) of GSC had problems paying his developers, but I forget his name.
Whatever happened to the reboot of the System Shock franchise? That was news a couple of years ago but I haven't heard anything about that in a while (except I believe one of the two developers of a system shock reboot gave up on the project).

I honestly thought this game came out 10 years ago.. this is how long it's been "teased" for.

His brother is running the show:

Either way, don't preorder, wait for independent reviews.
