I'll avoid being the AMD fan here, and I will say 1070. 1080 is the best bet for someone who is going to buy the card, use it for 2 years and ignore whatever comes out for that 2 years period. But it will be very difficult to ignore for two years whatever comes out.Especially in 9-12 months from now when both companies will have top to bottom products and probably a nice little price war between them. So I voted for 1070 because I think that in a year from now, most people will be looking to replace their cards, either they are 1080s or 1070s. 1070 will cover almost all needs in current games and it will lose less of it's value compared to 1080.

I voted for the 1080. If I could get one for the price of 600-700$ I probably would but in my country it costs 1000$. The 1070 is not yet available.

Voted other. Waiting for big Pascal and Vega. Probably won't upgrade until there are 1.440p Ultrawide monitors /w HDR and high refresh rates available. Preferably Dell, LG or Samsung. Here's hoping big Pascal and Vega are able to drive such panels at reasonable framerates.

I might be not quite getting what "having disposable income" means.
By my definition of, it you go for highest perf card (provided there are no big downs, e.g. 295x2 which wipes the floor with Titan in most games, but makes PSUs cry), which in this case is 1080.

Now, if choosing wisely, as I'm in for 1080p gaming, I'd go for 480, which, besides (presumably) covering 1080p resolution pretty well, has two times better perf/$ than 1070.

I voted 1070 and as soon as one comes in stock at Newegg I will buy one. The performance increase over my standard GTX 980 is a worth while upgrade to me.

I have the money to buy a GTX 1080 but to me that is a waste of money. $700 for a video card that I will most likely replace within three years is not wise spending IMO. I can get behind $450 though.

Other for me because I'm going to wait it out until 4K 120hz HDR panels are affordable which is probably not going to be anytime soon. For my needs at the moment, the RX480 8GB will serve 1080p perfectly. Resale value will also hold steady over time vs a GTX1070 and especially a GTX1080.
In 2 years when new cards come out, I'll probably consider spending $400+ on whichever card has the best price/perf ratio to drive a 4K panel decently.

Well i totally want GTX 1080, but im afraid my wallet couldn't be raped with such a big penny, so may be GTX 1070 or if possible getting second handed GTX 980 or 980ti , never going red with that crap AMD sells....

I'll wait to see what AMD has to say about this. They basically said that Dual RX480 equals GTX1080, so there is no way I'm wasting more than 399$ on a single card with the same performance, Sorry, Same with RX470 and 1070, 299$. The 11-series will fix this disparity. Take 1080 add +100 and then -10 and voila, 1170.

Enlighten me, but why would anyone buy a GTX 1080 knowing that the GTX 1080 TI is coming relatively soon? Unless you always buy the best card out there and upgrade every 6-12 months, it just does not make much sense to me. If you are running something between a GTX 780 TI and a GTX 980 TI you can surely hold out for a few more months. And if you are not, chances are you have not upgraded for a good reason: price-performance (and then 1070 is straight up a better choice).

It makes perfect sense if upgrading from the previous performance segment (GTX 980).

The 1080 almost offers consistent 96fps+ performance at 1440p; that alone is very enticing to people. A TI version would be better, but waiting eight months and also finding out it launches considerably more expensive than a standard 1080, means you waited for nothing.

I found a 1070 FE in stock but they are asking $449 so I don't think i will pull the trigger. The FE models should be just under $400 according to MSRP. I'm willing to pay $449 but for one with a better cooler and fans like the MSI Armor or something.

On a side note I'm starting to see some sales on the GTX 980 Ti. You can pick one up for around the same price as a GTX 1070. Just yesterday they were still selling for over $500 when I checked.

If you really need the performance that much, then it makes perfect sense to upgrade again, once the TI version debuts.

I am not saying you should wait around on your iGPU for 8 more months, but if you care about money at all you could surely "hold out" with your 980 TI until the 1080 TI arrives.

The GTX 1070 was leading the poll for a while there guys, now it seems to be "other". Very interesting.

Me, atm I'm looking into the 1070 but I maybe able to hold off until I see some Radeon action to make my final decision.

Apparently they are coming soon, does anybody have a rough idea when though??

I'd have purchased a GTX 1070 by now if not for it selling out 5 seconds from going live every time one comes in stock. I was reading that nvidia claim shortages on the 1070 and 1080 possibly into August. I think my GTX 980 is going to remain with me longer than I expected. I can't sit here refreshing the newegg screen all day long. lol

Well I may look like an ass after saying what I did above but I kept looking at the performance gains of the GTX 1070 Vs my ref. card GTX 980 and then the gains with the GTX 1080 FE and in the end had a change of heart. Newegg took my money and I'm driving over to their will-call in a little bit to pick up my EVGA GTX 1080 FE.

The price is crazy tbh but just like all my past GTX cards I prefer the ref. design so I knew I had to have a founders edition. So there goes $762.99 out of my checking account.

Oh and I have absolutely no patience. Once I have something in mind I just have to have it. It's a failing for sure but a fun one.

I'd like to add that I sell on ebay a lot and had around $650 sitting in my paypal account from this last weeks software sales. Then my Wife donated $100 to it for Fathers Day and I only had to spend around $13 or so out of my checking. So not really a hurt to the wallet this time.
